Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to honor survivors, remember loved ones, and raise awareness about a disease that affects millions of families each year. For the Skylight Family, this cause is deeply personal.

Kayla Langman, Client Service Specialist at Skylight Wealth Management, shares her story and the impact breast cancer has had on her life and family. We are grateful for her willingness to speak openly and help bring awareness to this important cause.

“Five years ago, at just 34 years old, I heard the words no one expects to hear: "You have breast cancer." At the time, my twin daughters were only 2 years old.

As a young mother, my diagnosis was frightening and overwhelming. My focus was on being there for my girls and fighting with everything I had. Today, I am proud to say I am a 5-year breast cancer survivor.

My journey taught me the importance of early detection. Knowing your body, performing regular self-exams, and keeping up with recommended screenings can make all the difference.

Breast cancer doesn't only affect older women. It can happen at any age, and that's why awareness matters. If sharing my story encourages even one person to perform a self-exam, schedule a mammogram, or speak with their doctor about a concern, then it is worth sharing.

Today, I celebrate survivorship, strength, and the precious moments I get to spend watching my daughters grow.

My scars tell a story of strength, courage, and survival. Breast cancer may be part of my journey, but it does not define who I am.”
