This one catches multi-location shop owners specifically, and we've seen it happen.

If you've expanded into a second state, or you're running locations under more than one LLC, each one has its own annual report deadline with its own state, and those deadlines don't line up with each other or with your tax calendar.

It's an easy thing to lose track of when you're focused on staffing bays and keeping parts stocked.

The problem is what happens if one location's entity actually falls out of good standing without anyone noticing.

It can affect that location's ability to renew licenses, hold financing, or even operate under its own name, and by the time it shows up, it's already a bigger fix than it needed to be.

Finance and insurance departments are dealing with a new kind of problem: AI-generated pay stubs, fake bank statements, and fabricated IDs that look convincing enough to pass a quick review.

Large dealership groups are responding by moving F&I toward centralized, virtual platforms and building in automated exception reporting that flags anomalies before they turn into a real financial loss.

Most independent shops don't have that kind of infrastructure, but the lesson still applies. The accounts and paperwork behind every deal deserve a second set of eyes, not just a quick glance before signing.

ASTA Expo 2026 has been SO much fun, and we're not ready for it to end!

Huge thanks for sharing the recap of our session, "Under the Hood: The Numbers, the Metrics, and the Conversations That Drive Shop Success." Nicole and Stacey had a blast up there, and the best part came after, when shop owners came up to chat.

Now let's talk about casino night last night. We came, we played and we laughed until our faces hurt.
