The new S199A deduction, known as the Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBID), is a result of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017. This new section of the code could result in a significant tax break for small business owners. As with most tax law, there are rules and limits to be considered eligible and to benefit from the new law. Feel free to contact me for more details. Important Business News: For the next few posts I would like to share tips that can help you and your business this tax season. To start off, some information for those who work in the “rideshare” industry (Uber, Lyft, sidecar, etc. or any other business that may be similar). The IRS considers you a private contractor which means you are subject to being taxed on that income, including Self-employment tax. There are also many deductions that can help reduce your tax liability from this income. Talk with me now before you find yourself in debt to the IRS.
