ASK THESE QUESTIONS!

Not all winterization services include the same things.

Before dropping off your boat or scheduling a dockside appointment, ask:

✅ What exactly is included in the quoted price?

✅ Does the service cover the engine only, or additional onboard systems?

✅ Are oil changes, filters, and lower-unit or drive service included?

✅ Will you inspect for water intrusion or other concerns?

✅ Are freshwater systems, heads, generators, A/C, ballast systems, or livewells included if equipped?

✅ Will you contact me before completing additional repairs?

✅ Is spring commissioning included or separate?

✅ Will I receive documentation of the work performed?

BONUS TIP: If your boat is staying on a lift, confirm that the technician can access it safely and has everything needed to complete the service.

A few questions now can prevent expensive surprises later.

DIY winterization: to try, or not to try?
That is the question. 🔧🚤

Some boat owners are comfortable handling their seasonal maintenance. Others prefer a marine service professional — especially when an engine, drive, cooling system, generator, or onboard plumbing requires specific winterization procedures.

Before deciding, ask yourself:
• Do I know the procedure for my exact boat and engine?
• Do I have the right equipment and enough time before freezing weather?
• Would a professional service and written record be worth it to me?

There's no trophy for taking an unnecessary risk — or for paying someone to do a job you're fully prepared to handle.

Depending on your boat's systems and where it's stored, the checklist may include engine and drive protection, fuel and fluids, onboard water systems, batteries, and a storage plan that keeps moisture under control.

The process isn't one-size-fits-all. Follow your boat and engine manuals, and bring in a qualified marine technician when a procedure is outside your comfort zone.

One more day of horsepower at Lake of the Ozarks. 🏁🚤

Shootout 38 Race Day #2 closes out an incredible week of boating at the Lake today.

After a week of street parties, incredible boats, Demo Day, the Poker Run and two days of racing, tonight the attention turns to the competitors and teams at the Shootout Awards Ceremony.

But what we love most about this week goes beyond speed.

Events like the Shootout bring people to the Lake.
They support local businesses.
They bring boaters together.
They create traditions.

And for a lot of families, they create another chapter in a lifetime of memories made on this water. ⚓

Thanks to everyone — organizers, racers, volunteers, emergency personnel, businesses and spectators — who helps make Shootout Week happen.
