Over the past year, I’ve spent a significant amount of time reflecting on where I can create the greatest impact.

I realized something important:

I don’t want to step away from advising business owners.
I want to go deeper.

After years of working with entrepreneurs, founders, and closely held businesses, one truth has become clear to me:

Most business owners are sitting on a massive “value gap.”

They’ve poured decades into building revenue, teams, locations, and brands… yet many businesses are still not positioned to achieve their full potential value when the day comes to transition, scale, recapitalize, or sell.

That realization is what led me to focus the next chapter of my career on helping closely held business owners close that gap.

I feel like my Mission going forward is:

Help business owners maximize enterprise value long before a sale is ever on the table.

Because the best exits are built years in advance.

That means focusing on:
• Profitability and operational efficiency
• Leadership and management depth
• Risk management and continuity planning
• Tax strategy and wealth planning
• Succession and exit readiness
• Personal financial independence outside the business
• Creating transferable, scalable value

The goal isn’t just to sell a business someday.

The goal is to build a business that gives owners optionality, leverage, freedom, and long-term family wealth — whether they exit in 2 years, 20 years, or never.

I believe advisors should do more than manage investments.

We should help owners build stronger companies, stronger balance sheets, and stronger legacies.

Excited for this next chapter and grateful for the incredible business owners who trust us to help them build what’s next.

Your RSUs just vested. Now what?

Most executives I speak with treat vesting like a payday — the shares hit the account, they sell a portion to cover taxes, and they move on.

But the executives who build real, lasting wealth treat vesting differently. They treat it like a decision point.

Here's what that actually looks like in practice:

𝟭. Know what you already own.
Before you decide what to do with new shares, look at your total picture. How much of your net worth is already tied to your employer's stock? If your RSUs, ESPPs, options, and 401(k) match are all in company stock — you're more concentrated than you realize.

𝟮. Tax timing matters more than the share price.
The spread between your vest date and sale date determines your tax treatment. Holding shares post-vest can convert ordinary income into long-term capital gains — but that only makes sense if the concentration risk is manageable. Don't let the tax tail wag the dog.

𝟯. Have a written plan before the next vest cycle.
The executives who navigate equity comp well don't make it up as they go. They have a clear framework: how much to sell at vest, how much to hold, how to diversify over time, and how the decision integrates with their overall financial plan.

RSU wealth isn't automatic. It takes intentional management.
