There’s a new wave of scams claiming your refund is ready or needs to be verified.

The IRS does NOT text, email, or message you asking for banking info or to “release” a refund. If you get one:
• Don’t click links
• Don’t respond
• Go directly to IRS.gov or contact your CPA

Also — the IRS has recently sent letters about refunds issued in error.

If you receive one, don’t panic—but don’t ignore it either. Verify it before taking action.

When in doubt, ask before you act.

Now we can all breathe again 😅

But real talk…
If this year didn’t go how you wanted, don’t wait until next April to fix it.

Now is actually the perfect time to review your 2025 return and figure out:

Why you owed (or got a big refund)
What could have been done differently
What we can adjust now for 2026

The best tax results don’t happen at filing — they happen with planning.

If you want help getting ahead this year, shoot me a message.

Yes… It’s Still Tax Season

If you’re one of the many people who haven't started looking at their taxes, the April 15 deadline is approaching faster than you think, and now is the time to start gathering everything needed to finish your return.

Here are a few things to make the process smoother:

✔ Make sure you’ve received all tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, brokerage statements, etc.).
✔ If you have a business or rental property, get your income and expenses organized now.
✔ Don’t forget about items like charitable donations, childcare expenses, and education expenses that could reduce your tax bill.

Waiting until the last minute often leads to missing deductions or unnecessary stress. Getting organized now helps ensure your return is accurate and filed on time.

If you’re still working on your 2024 return or need help finishing it before the deadline, feel free to reach out.

Did your 2025 tax strategy actually work?

Now that 2025 is closed, here’s what we’re reviewing with clients:

• Did your S-Corp salary make sense?
• Did you overpay or underpay estimates?
• Did your retirement contributions reduce tax the way we projected?
• Did your cash flow match your profit?
• Did you grow — or just get busier?

Most business owners only look at their tax return.

We look at:
✔ Profitability
✔ Cash flow
✔ Compensation structure
✔ Entity strategy
✔ 2026 tax projection

Message me and we’ll take a look before the year gets away from you.

Your Tax Guy Probably Missed This....

Most business owners think taxes are just something you file.

But the real savings happens before December 31st.

I see people every week who could have:
– Written off their home office
– Paid their kids tax-free
– Set up a retirement plan
– Avoided thousands in self-employment tax

…but their CPA never told them.

If you’re a business owner and no one has done a tax strategy session with you this year, you’re flying blind.

💡 Tax Tip for Business Owners with Kids

Did you know that hiring your child to work in your business can be a legitimate tax strategy — if it’s done correctly?

For sole proprietors and certain family partnerships:
✔ Wages paid to a child under age 18 may be exempt from Social Security & Medicare taxes
✔ Wages paid under age 21 may be exempt from FUTA
✔ The business gets a deduction
✔ Your child earns income at a much lower tax rate

But structure matters — this does NOT work the same way for S-corps, and improper setup can cause problems with the IRS.

If you’re paying for:
• College tuition
• Cars or insurance
• Everyday expenses

This is a planning conversation worth having before year-end.

What is a Fractional CFO — and who is it actually for?

A Fractional CFO gives you strategic financial leadership without the cost of a full-time CFO.

If your business is profitable but you’re asking questions like:

Why does cash feel tight even when sales are strong?

Which jobs, services, or clients are actually making us money?

How much can we safely pay ourselves?

Are we overpaying in taxes or missing planning opportunities?

…that’s where Fractional CFO services come in.

As a Fractional CFO, I help business owners with:
• Monthly financial statement review
• Cash flow forecasting & budgeting
• Job costing & margin analysis
• KPI dashboards and financial clarity
• Tax planning and proactive projections
• Strategic guidance for growth decisions

This service is ideal for growing businesses that need more than bookkeeping — but aren’t ready for a full-time CFO.

If you want your financials to drive decisions, not just file tax returns, let’s talk.

Big news from the One Big Beautiful Bill!
You can now deduct interest paid on new car loans (up to $10,000) from 2025–2028 — even if you take the standard deduction.
The vehicle must be new, assembled in the U.S., and used personally, not for business.
