As the 2017 filing season approaches, please be aware that the IRS has announced the tax season will open on Monday, January 23rd and electronic tax returns will be accepted that day.

However, there is a delay for individuals claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit on their returns. Due to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act mandates the IRS will hold those refunds until February 15th. This change helps the IRS detect and prevent tax fraud. Therefore EITC and ACTC filers can expect refunds to start arriving in bank accounts or on debit cards beginning the week of Feb. 27th.

You have two and a half week to file your taxes. April 15th is approaching fast. No matter if you owe filing on time is important. You can avoid a penalty for filing late. If you owe or believe you owe it is still better to file on time; you will be able to avoid a late filing penalty although you will pay penalties and interest for paying late.

For those of you who just are not able to file on time and don't owe you will be automatically extended to October 15. Those of you who will owe you must file a extend for time to file. This is not an extension to pay. For question and concerns inbox us or contact us at [email protected].
