Christmas has a way of making little expenses feel like no big deal… until you add them all up. 🎄🎁

One of the best things you can do for your holiday budget is give yourself a place to think through the whole season before the spending starts adding up.

What do you tend to forget when planning for Christmas? The extra groceries? Teacher gifts? All those little last-minute purchases?

I'm curious! 👇

And if you need a little help getting organized this year, my Holiday Money Checkup workbook was created to help you plan for the season with your real-life budget in mind. 💙

It's not always the big gifts that throw off our holiday budgets. Sometimes, it's all the little things we forget to account for.

The teacher gifts. The extra ingredients for holiday baking. The wrapping paper. The school parties. The stocking stuffers. The last-minute trip to the store because we forgot one more thing. 😅

Individually, these expenses might not seem like much. But when they all happen within a few weeks, they can add up quickly.

And if we haven't planned for them, we may find ourselves wondering where the money went—or putting expenses on a credit card that we didn't intend to use.

One thing that can help? Give those little expenses a place in your holiday spending plan before the season gets too busy.

That's one of the things I had in mind when I created my Holiday Money Checkup. It's a practical download to help you organize your holiday spending, keep track of purchases, and make a plan that works for your family.

You don't have to plan every detail perfectly. You just need a place to start.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Your income isn't a factor in calculating your FICO® Score.

You could earn $40,000 a year or $140,000 a year, and your income itself won't make your credit score higher or lower.

So what is your credit score looking at?

Think of it this way: your FICO® Score uses information about how you've managed credit to estimate how likely you are to repay borrowed money as agreed.

Have you made payments on time? How much of your available credit are you using? How long have you had credit? What does your credit history tell a potential lender?

It's essentially a calculated estimate of credit risk based on your past credit behavior—not a measure of your income, your net worth, or your worth as a person.

Your income still matters when a lender evaluates your ability to repay a loan. It's just not part of the FICO® Score calculation itself.

Understanding what your score actually measures can help you focus on the things that influence it.

Information first. Judgment never. 💙

There's no shortage of people online willing to tell you exactly how you should spend your money.

But your life isn't their life.

Your income, responsibilities, family, goals, and priorities are your own. A budget that works beautifully for one household might be completely unrealistic for another.

The point isn't to copy someone else's budget. It's to build a plan that helps you cover your needs, meet your commitments, enjoy the things that matter to you, and work toward your own goals.

Your budget should serve your life—not make you feel like you're failing because your life looks different from someone else's. 💙

🎄 It's LIVE! 💙

I've been working on something new, and today I finally get to share it with you! I'm a little nervous, but here goes!

I've spent the last several weeks creating my very first paid resource for Valkyrie Family Financial Counseling: the Holiday Money Checkup.

I believe money is emotional before it's mathematical, and I think the holidays are one of the clearest examples of that. We want to make Christmas special, create memories, carry on traditions, and give to the people we love. But sometimes the financial stress follows us long after the decorations come down.

I created this workbook because I want to help families slow down, decide what matters most to them, and make a plan for their holiday spending.

Inside, you'll find practical worksheets to help you plan your spending, organize your gift budget, track purchases, find ways to save, and even start thinking ahead to next Christmas.

My hope is that it helps you feel a little calmer, a little more in control, and gives you the gift of a little more peace when January rolls around.

This is my first time creating and launching something like this, and I'm really proud to finally put it out into the world. ❤️

🎁 The Holiday Money Checkup is available now for just $9!

Here's to enjoying the holidays and welcoming the new year with a little more peace of mind.

Strength for your finances. Stability for your family.

Money is emotional before it's mathematical. 💙

And the holidays are a perfect example of that.

We want to make Christmas special for the people we love, but we also want to start the new year without the financial stress of spending more than we planned.

That's why I've been creating my Holiday Money Checkup — a practical guide to help you plan your holiday spending around what matters most to your family.

It's almost ready, and I'm excited to share it with you this week!

You don't have to have a perfect budget to make a plan. You just have to start somewhere.

Not all progress is visible to other people.

Sometimes it's a decision you made differently this time. A bill you finally opened. A little money set aside. A hard conversation you had instead of avoiding it.

Maybe it's choosing to look at your finances when you'd rather not, or taking a small step toward a goal that still feels a long way off.

Those things may not look like much from the outside, but they count.

You don't need someone else to recognize every step for it to matter. Give yourself credit for the work you're doing, even when no one else sees it. 💙

Have you ever felt like you should have a better handle on your money, but you're not quite sure where to start? 💙

Sometimes, we get so caught up in paying bills, managing everyday expenses, and keeping up with life that we don't take a step back to look at the bigger picture.

That's why I created the free Money Snapshot through Valkyrie Family Financial Counseling.

It's a simple starting point to help you look at where things stand with your money and begin figuring out what you'd like to change or work toward.

You don't need a perfect budget. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need a place to start.

And that's what this is for. 💙

Feel free to share it with someone who might find it helpful!

When money feels tight, it's tempting to think you have to make one big change to fix everything.
Sometimes, though, it's worth starting with the recurring expenses you may not have looked at in a while.
Check what you're paying for, what has changed, and what still makes sense for your life.
You may discover some room in your budget. Or you may confirm that your money is already going toward things you genuinely need.

Either way, understanding your spending is a useful first step.
Save this for your next money checkup. 💙

Personal finance is often treated as if knowing what to do is the hardest part.

Learn how to budget. Spend less than you earn. Save for emergencies. Pay down debt.

The information matters, of course. But knowing what to do is only part of the picture.

I've heard the idea that personal finance is about 20% knowledge and 80% behavior. I think it gets at something important: knowing what to do and being able to do it are two different things.

You can know you need an emergency fund and still struggle to set money aside when every dollar already has a job.

You can understand how a budget works and still have trouble sticking to it when life throws something unexpected your way.

You can know that paying down debt is important and still feel overwhelmed about where to start.

That doesn't automatically mean you lack knowledge or discipline. Our financial decisions are shaped by our circumstances, habits, emotions, priorities, and the resources we have available.

That's why financial counseling isn't just about giving someone information. It's about helping them figure out how to use that information in their own life, work through obstacles, and build a plan they can realistically follow.

Because knowing what to do matters. But having the support, resources, and practical steps to actually do it matters, too. 💙

Information first. Judgment never.
