Small businesses really are the heartbeat of every community — including mine.

They’re run by people who show up every day because they love what they do, not because a corporate ladder is waiting for them at the top. They’re the ones who know their customers by name, who pour their energy into their craft, and who keep local life vibrant and human.

That’s who I’m here to support.

My bookkeeping services are built for the good people behind small businesses — the ones who value honesty, community, and meaningful work. Whether you’re here in the Raleigh‑Durham area or across the country, my goal is to make your financial world feel clear, organized, and manageable so you can stay focused on what you do best.

Small business over corporate, every time.
And I’m proud to stand behind the people who keep our communities alive.

🐕Your Dogs Are Adorable… Your Books? Not So Much

If you’re ready for more clarity and calm in the back office so you can stay focused on caring for the animals, I’d love to help. When the “cute and cuddly” side of your business is thriving but the books feel messy, behind, or overwhelming, that’s exactly where I come in.

I help pet‑care businesses get their financial systems organized, up‑to‑date, and running smoothly so you can spend more time doing what you love — and less time stressing over the numbers.

Happy Friday from the barn! 🐴

One thing I love about being both a horse trainer and a bookkeeper is that they have more in common than most people realize.

As a trainer, I spend a lot of time evaluating progress. Is the horse stronger? More balanced? Responding better than they were a month ago?

Without paying attention to those details, it's hard to know what's working and what needs more attention.

Business finances are no different.

You can't improve profitability if you don't know your numbers.
You can't manage cash flow if you aren't tracking it.
You can't make confident decisions without accurate records.

Whether I'm evaluating a horse's progress or reviewing financial reports, good decisions start with good information.

That's one reason I enjoy both horse training and bookkeeping—they're both about understanding the story behind the numbers and the progress.

What lessons has your profession taught you that carry over into other areas of life?

Have a great weekend everyone! 🐴💙

⌛ The Real Cost of DIY Isn’t Money — It’s Time

We live in a time where almost anything can be DIY’d — bookkeeping, marketing, admin work, repairs, content creation, you name it.
And on the surface, doing it yourself feels like saving money.

But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:
It’s costing you time.

And time is the one resource you can’t earn back.

There are only so many “working” hours in a day. Only so much mental bandwidth. Only so much energy you can pour into your business before something starts slipping — usually the things that actually move you forward.

The truth is simple:
You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.

So the real question becomes:
Where do you want to spend your time?
On the tasks that drain you… or the ones that grow you?

And if you don’t want to spend your precious hours behind the computer doing your books… it might be time to outsource.

Some of us don’t realize we’re introverts until we start a business and suddenly everyone expects us to network, mingle, and “work the room.” Meanwhile, we’re over here dreaming of quiet mornings, good coffee, and getting things done without a crowd.

The good news? Today’s business world actually works in our favor. Email, messaging, and online communication let us think before we respond — no pressure to be “on” all the time. And while big groups can be draining, 1:1 connections are where introverts really shine.

If you’re an introverted business owner who wants bookkeeping that feels calm, clear, and supportive (not overwhelming), I’m your person. No big networking events required — just real conversations and steady support.

💡 Monday Mini‑Tip: Quickly Verify Printed & Cleared Checks in QBO

If you still issue printed checks (many small businesses and nonprofits do!), there’s an easy way to confirm both the print status and whether they cleared — all in one place.

Run a Check Detail report, then customize it by filtering for Check Printed = Yes. That single filter gives you a clean, consolidated list of every printed check along with its cleared/uncleared status.

It’s a simple workflow that helps you track, audit, and verify all check disbursements efficiently — and keeps your books accurate and up‑to‑date.

Stepping into entrepreneurship has changed everything for me — not just how I work, but how I show up for the people who trust me.

Running both a bookkeeping business and a horse‑training program has taught me something important:
when I build a life that aligns with my strengths, my clients get the best version of me.

Entrepreneurship gives me the freedom to structure my days with intention — the deep‑focus time I need for accurate, reliable bookkeeping, and the flexibility to support clients when they need clarity the most. It means I can be fully present, fully committed, and fully invested in helping small business owners stay organized, confident, and financially steady.

I didn’t choose this path to “do it all.”
I chose it so I could do what I love — and do it well — while being a true partner to the people I serve.

If you’re looking for bookkeeping support that’s thoughtful, dependable, and built around helping your business thrive, I’m here for you.

When the doggos are packed and ready for boarding, your business needs to be just as ready behind the scenes. 🧳🐶

Clear books mean less stress, smoother days, and more time to focus on what you do best — giving pups a safe, happy place to stay while their humans are away.

If you want your business to feel as organized as this little traveler’s suitcase, I’m here to help make the numbers simple and stress‑free.

Building a Little More Social Grit Each Day

As an introverted business owner, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone today and did a round of in‑person visits. It’s definitely a “cold plunge” moment for me, but growth doesn’t happen in the cozy places.

I kept it simple — a quick intro, then giving people space to talk and share. And instead of trying to hit a dozen places at once, I focused on just a few meaningful stops so I could show up fully for each one.

Little by little, this is how I’m building the confidence and connection it takes to serve my customers well. One small, brave step at a time.
