It is important to ensure your preparer can be found on the IRS website. Always make sure your return was signed by the preparer you paid. Your return should not say “self prepared” if you paid for your return to be completed by a preparer.

Here are a few reminders:

🚨Upcoming Efile Shutdown

For both individuals and businesses the E-File shutdown is 12/26/25 (Tip: file before this date). The following years currently can be efiled, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Once it shuts down no returns can be efiled until it reopens in 2026.

🚨Estimated Payments

4th quarter estimated payments are due 1/15/26.

🚨Financial Planning

New budgets should be complete. However, there is still time to prepare for the upcoming year.

🚨Tax Planning

Tax planning should be year round, however this is the remaining few days to plan for the upcoming year. Remember, tax planning is proactive, tax preparation is reactive. Once the year ends you have missed most opportunities to reduce your tax liability for 2025.

Tax Tip

Take a picture of your odometer today (12/31/24) after your last trip or tomorrow (1/1/25) before you pull off. This indicates your odometer at year end and will aid in calculating total miles driven in 2024 as well as where to begin when tracking 2025.

It is helpful to use an app to track your business miles throughout the year.
