Tax Season 2026 is officially complete!

This year was definitely one for the books. At the end of February, I was honored to receive an award for Best Accounting and Tax Firm. Just a week later, I found myself in the hospital dealing with a medical issue and was diagnosed with vertigo. The medication meant to help the dizziness left me barely able to function. There were days I had to choose between pushing through or giving in and resting; not exactly ideal timing during tax season.

Even with a couple of amazing people supporting me behind the scenes, I am still very much a one-woman show when it comes to tax preparation. I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Every client is handled with care and professionalism, and while that may slow me down at times, I will always choose accuracy over rushing.

To all of my new and returning clients—thank you. Your trust means everything to me, and I’m so grateful you chose me to serve you this year.

For those currently on extension, don’t worry; we are not waiting until October!😉 I’ll be taking a week to rest and reset, then I’ll be back and ready to tackle those returns.

✨ What Changed (and What Didn’t) for Tax Season 2026

One of the biggest questions I’m getting right now is:
“Do the new tax laws change everything?”

The short answer: No.

While the One Big Beautiful Bill did introduce updates for 2026, many familiar tax rules are still in place. Filing deadlines didn’t change. Not every deduction disappeared. And not every taxpayer will be impacted the same way.

What did change is how certain credits, thresholds, and planning opportunities apply—especially for business owners and households with more complex finances. That’s why early planning matters more this year than rushing to file later.

‼️Attention QB Payroll Clients‼️

If you have any employees or contractors who are supposed to be paid today, 8/29, please be aware there was an issue with deposits this morning.

Apparently a banking update disrupted the timing of all payroll services.

QuickBooks has assured us that everyone will see their deposits by the end of the banking day today.

The IRS is officially accepting tax returns today! Here are some important reminders.

👉🏻 If you are claiming the Earned Income Credit {EIC} or Advanced Child Tax Credit (ACTC) you will NOT get your refund until the end of February, regardless of how early you file. The IRS by law has to delay these refunds due to excessive fraud (people claiming kids they don’t have).

👉🏻 If you file a 1065 Partnership or 1120-S Corporate return those are due on Monday, March 17th.

👉🏻 1040 Personal and 1120 Corporate Returns are due Tuesday, April 15th.

👉🏻 Make sure to maximize your traditional IRA contributions before you file. You may be able to deduct some or all of that amount from your taxable income.
