FLOOD / HIGH WATER PREP – QUICK CHECKLIST!!!
From our friends at the Fox Waterwary Agency:

✔ Anchor or secure piers/docks (remove sections if possible)
✔ Tie off boats with extra lines (leave slack for rising water) and check lines as water rises and lowers
✔ If your boat is on a lift, make sure it is properly secured to the lift
✔ Add bumpers/fenders to protect your boat
✔ Turn off shoreline power if water rises
✔ Check bilge pumps & battery
✔ Raise and secure boat lifts
✔ Remove or tie down covers, canopies & loose gear
✔ Pull kayaks/canoes out or tie them down
✔ Secure jet skis/PWCs and floating docks
✔ Sandbag shoreline, piers, doors & low areas
✔ Bring in or secure patio furniture, umbrellas & décor
✔ Secure grills, fire pits, trash cans, hoses & yard items
✔ Move firewood piles near shoreline to higher ground
✔ Secure any other items that may float away
✔ Move valuables, fuel tanks & portable items to higher ground
✔ Check sump pumps

Anything not secured WILL and can become debris and can cause damage or injury.

Midwest Marine & Barge Service update: All lakes and waterways are currently under slow-no-wake due to rising water and flood levels. Increased levels, currents and debris are creating difficult conditions for pier work and shoreline areas.

We appreciate your patience as we monitor and maneuver through these challenging conditions. Our team remains focused on protecting your shoreline and prioritizing safety.

We are available for emergency situations as needed.

🚨 NO WAKE DECLARED – BROWNS LAKE & BOHNERS LAKE 🚨

Due to heavy rainfall over the past 24–48 hours, water levels on Browns Lake and Bohners Lake are extremely high.

The Town of Burlington has issued a NO WAKE declaration for both lakes effective immediately and until further notice. This measure is necessary to help prevent shoreline damage and protect property.

All boaters are required to operate at slow, no-wake speeds.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and will share updates as conditions improve.
