Trent McMurtrey Battleworn Legacy: Forged by struggle. Defined by legacy. Built on Christ.

I’ve learned this the hard way:

The men you walk with shape the man you become.

If your circle keeps you comfortable, it will cost you growth. If your brothers don’t challenge you, correct you, and call you higher, they’re shaping a legacy you’ll eventually pass down.

I want to build something worth inheriting.

That means choosing brotherhood wisely.

I don’t say this lightly, and I don’t say it emotionally. I say it because becoming a father clarified everything.
Losing one of my children is my deepest fear-not because I doubt God, but because love creates responsibility. Real love doesn’t live in abstractions. It forces decisions. It demands weight. It doesn’t allow comfort to stay in charge.
I already know what I’d die for. That wasn’t decided in a moment of passion, but through conviction. And if I’m honest, most of the world wants the benefits of love without the burden of surrender.
That’s why the cross matters.
Christianity isn’t built on vague inspiration or moral advice. It’s built on a historical act of sacrifice. Someone didn’t speak about love-He proved it. Not when we were strong, disciplined, or deserving, but when we weren’t.
Scripture says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
That verse doesn’t exist to make us feel better. It exists to confront us. If that kind of love is real and I believe it is then neutrality isn’t an option. Indecision is still a decision.
So when I ask, “What will you do with that?” I’m not talking to strangers on the internet. I’m talking to myself first. Because love like that demands an answer.

The body, according to Scripture, is not meant to be a tool for attention, but a vessel for honoring God. “You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). For me, that means choosing discipline and modesty, even in environments where attention is easy to chase and exposure is celebrated.

God has never been impressed by outward appearance. “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). I don’t believe taking clothes off for attention and serving Jesus belong in the same lane. Christ’s example wasn’t about drawing eyes to Himself; it was about faithfulness, restraint, and humility. I can train hard, live disciplined, and keep my convictions intact….not because strength requires it, but because following Jesus does. ❤️

Most Christians aren’t struggling with clarity.
They’re struggling with courage.

I had to ask myself a question that changed everything: Do I fear people, or do I fear God?

When I chose God, the way I showed up changed. Not because it got easier but because obedience mattered more than comfort.

If my voice helps even one person stand firmer in their faith, their business, or their leadership at home, it’s worth it.

Silence was never part of the calling.

Everyone’s looking for answers.
Few are willing to choose direction.

My kids don’t need me to have life figured out.
They need me to walk it well.

Faith isn’t passed down through explanations…
it’s passed down through footsteps.

Save this if that responsibility feels heavy.
It should.

My greatest legacy won’t be what I build or achieve, but who I stand for. I want my kids to know their dad lived his faith out loud and never backed down from the truth of Jesus.

Your kids aren’t inheriting your business. They’re inheriting your faith…or your fear.

Legacy isn’t money.
It’s what they watch you live out.

If they copied your faith exactly…would it carry them?

(Proverbs 13:22)

Watch till the end.
This one matters.

Christian entrepreneurs often pray for provision but shy away from the faith-driven decisions. God doesn't fund comfort zones, He funds obedience. This might be the sign you've been looking for. Question for you: What's the step you're supposed to take?

This was created just for our 16-year anniversary 🤍

My wife had absolutely no idea this song was being made for her. Seeing her reaction made every part of it worth it.

Huge thank you to Jonathan and Chase for creating something so meaningful. Faith was completely blown away and hasn’t stopped listening to it since.

16 years of marriage, and I’d choose her every time. ❤️
