SCAM ALERT: There is a new phone scam in our area. A man identifying himself as BBPD Officer Daniel Marcus ID 69EM47 is calling and asking people to confirm their Social Security number for case ACE-ES-105. The "City of Boynton" was displayed on the caller ID but no phone number appeared. Here's what you need to know to not become a victim of this scam....there is no officer by that name employed by the BBPD; our employee ID numbers are not configured that way; our case numbers do not start with ACE; and we will NEVER ask for your SSN over the phone. If you get a call like this, do not provide any of your personal information. Hang up and call us at 561-732-8116 to ask a dispatcher if an officer is trying to reach you. Please share this scam alert with your friends and family as the scammers may be using the names of other police departments/cities.
