A 750 credit score will not pay your rent if you lose your job.

But a lot of people are walking around thinking they’re financially “good” because of that number.

Creditworthiness is not the same as financial stability. And that’s a gap worth exploring.

Your credit score measures one thing: how well you manage debt. That's it!

It does not measure:
Whether you have savings
Whether you are living within your means
Whether you are building wealth
Whether you could survive a financial emergency

I have worked with people who had excellent credit scores and zero dollars in savings.

They looked great on paper and were one unexpected expense away from crisis.

Financial health is bigger than one number.

Your credit score is a tool. A useful one. But it is not the whole picture.

If you want a more honest snapshot, try this scorecard instead:
Do I have at least one month of expenses saved?
Am I spending less than I earn?
Am I making progress toward even one financial goal?

Because real financial confidence isn’t about how you look on paper. It’s about how prepared you are when life happens.

Did you catch our Women on the Move series? If not, you still can.

The full playlist is up and ready for you. Five real conversations with women navigating business, money, and everything in between. We got into their stories and mindset, how they are showing up and serving the people they work with, and the programs they are building to create lasting change.

Because financial progress is never just about the numbers. It is about the decisions, emotions, and experiences that shape how we show up with money.

A huge thank you to Ashlee Edwards, Dr. Amirra Condelee, LaQueshia Clemons, and Nia Adams for keeping it real and showing us what building, growing, serving, and creating with intention actually looks like.

Many of your team members are sitting in meetings right now thinking about money. Not the agenda. Money. A one-hour workshop can change that.

I watch a lot of gardening videos on YouTube. I enjoyed every single one, until I completed a three-month Master Gardener course.

Suddenly I could not unsee things. Practices I had accepted without question now had me asking, "But is that actually true?" The course didn't just teach me gardening. It changed the way I watch it. I went from passive viewer to active thinker.

That shift is exactly what financial education does for your team members.

Most people are not financially stuck because they are irresponsible. They are stuck because they have never had a moment of illumination. Once someone truly understands how a credit score is built, they can't un-know it. Once compound interest clicks, retirement contributions stop feeling like a sacrifice and start feeling like strategy.

That awareness doesn't just change behavior at home. It shows up everywhere they are.

Financially stressed team members are distracted team members. But those who have a framework, the language for what they are dealing with, and concrete next steps can set the worry down and be present.

That is what a financial wellness workshop delivers. Not a glossy seminar. An experience that creates a lasting shift where something clicks and stays clicked.

As an Accredited Financial Counselor® with a personal story of rebuilding my own finances from the ground up, I design workshops that meet team members where they are and walk them out with a clearer head and a plan they can use.

If you are an HR leader, a people operations professional, an organization or professional group looking to bring that kind of impact to your team, let's talk.

More money does not fix money problems. It reveals them.

So why do so many people believe a bigger paycheck will solve everything?

In this episode of Dr. Sev Talks Money's Women on the Move series, Dr. Sev and returning guest Ashlee Edwards, attorney and private money lender, discuss why earning more does not always translate into financial progress. They explore what it really takes to build additional income, realistic starting points for those who feel stuck, and the mistakes people make when chasing more without a plan. Then they go where most money conversations stop short: cash flow. Because money coming in is only half the story.

If you have ever worked hard, earned a decent income, and still felt like you are not getting ahead, this conversation will show you why and what you can start doing differently.

Ashlee Edwards is an attorney and private money lender who helps professionals build wealth through intentional, business-purpose private lending. Her work focuses on legal clarity, risk awareness, and practical strategies that protect capital while creating sustainable returns.

Hey y'all, please join us for the third of five episodes in the Women on the Move series, livestreaming this Sunday, March 15th at 6pm ET.

This Sunday I’m talking with LaQueshia Clemons, Certified Financial Therapist, about what people get wrong about money stress and why money conversations can feel so difficult. She brings something rare to this space. She blends clinical therapy with financial education.

***I'm no longer livestreaming to Facebook. Just trash. They canceled my second livestream and buried the first one. Only livestreaming to YouTube and LinkedIn.

Do you work at a company that provides financial education to employees? And/or have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that coordinate educational programs for employees?

Do you know a social club, nonprofit, or other organization that is looking for personal finance training?

Too many employees/people are unaware of basic strategies they can employ to make their life just a little bit easier.

I help you reduce financial stress and regain focus by teaching simple financial habits and practical steps you can apply immediately.

I would love to conduct a workshop at your place of employment/organization.

For many of us, it's tied to fear, responsibility, and the pressure to get it right.

In this episode of the Dr. Sev Talks Money podcast, Matt Morizio, former pro baseball player turned wealth advisor and father of 7 (soon to be 😎, shares how he navigated the shift from financial fear to freedom by changing his relationship with money.

Some of the things we talk about:
*Making faith-driven decisions when outcomes aren't guaranteed
*Redefining what financial freedom actually means
*The difference between spending less and earning more
*How childhood money stories shape our financial futures

If you've ever questioned whether financial stress means you made the wrong choice or wondered how to move forward without having all the answers, this conversation offers a new perspective and space to reflect.
