This is the story of Radical Stewardship
These achievements above are a privilege for my family and I today because… I remember having to share a bedroom with my parents till I was 16yrs old. Because of our financial situation, my family had to downgrade from a private property to a small flat. I've also witnessed arguments between my parents over money issues. It was a time I felt when my family had money, we had little family warmth. But when we had family warmth, we didn't have enough money. I joined the financial advisory (FA) industry in 2010, largely because of time freedom and money. While I struggled initially, I rose to be ranked top 6% in the entire FA industry globally after 4 years, solely by word of mouth. Just when my family restarted to enjoy a better quality of life, a major illness from my mom triggered me to re-evaluate about the purpose of my work. While all I wanted to give, is for my mother to enjoy a better life financially, what my mother desired was something different, and something that was far more simpler. That was when I realized a whole new and whole different meaning to stewardship. Apart from money, there is stewardship over time, and relationships. My new-found belief in radical stewardship gives me the conviction that everyone deserves to grow their wealth abundantly, and not neglect time with their loved ones, and the things that are important to them. I am also blessed through these life events, it gives me clarity on the seasons in life, from marriage to fatherhood. I learn to make wiser choices between family and work. My marriage is also renewed with more trust and transparency over our finances. Today, I desire to value add beyond the realm of finance. My stronger fulfillment at work allows me to serve the mass affluent, HNW families and earn the right to manage an 8-figure investment portfolio.
