I am hearten by this story. Unwavering love, support from the mum and family. Quality Healthcare which help in Mr Dante’s recovery. Government support schemes, adequate insurance to support financially. My heartfelt congrats to Mr Dante Lin on road to recovery.
In my opinion, this article shown us the importance of a holistic approach to support a person’s recovery from a critical illness.
Let’s think about it, of all these: Family Support, Quality Healthcare, Government support schemes, Adequate Insurance, which is/are the factor/s we can control or work on?
Personally, I would say, its family and insurance. I can work on or build good relations within the family. I can review and ensure sufficient insurance to support financially if needed. If you had not been spending time with your family, I encourage you to do so. If you had not review your insurance, I urge you to do so. We are approaching year end, a good time to take stock of your finances. Speak to your trusted consultant.
Lastly, I like to share the parts of the article where it impact me the most:
“ For 98 days, Mrs Lin visited her son daily. The mother of four children took time off her work as a retail training and customer service manager to be with him. Mrs Lin left the other three children, aged 17, 11 and five, in the care of her in-laws. Mr Lin is her oldest child. “
“ She added: “I also had a great support system from my family and relatives, as well as my husband, who took every opportunity to visit Dante when he was off work. I am just very glad that he is here with us.” “
“ The bill came to a staggering $490,000, Mrs Lin revealed, but they did not have to fork out a single cent from their pocket. Various government subsidies, insurance and MediSave helped them pay the bill. “
The bacteria entered Mr Dante Lin's bloodstream and spread to his lungs, causing septic shock. Read more at straitstimes.com.
