It takes discipline to master the SYSTEM. 🤔☺️
“Paglaki ko gusto maging katulad ni LeBron.”
“10 years from now may bahay na ko.”
“By age 50 magreretire na ko.”
“Gusto magkaroon ng katawan ng kagaya ni The Funny Advisor.”
Joke lang ung last sentence.
Goals are very important for us, we love talking and fantasizing about them. Creating goals is not bad, it is essential if we want to grow. We are so fixated on it, we continually put happiness off until the next milestone. Focusing too much on our goals may also cause “analysis paralysis” where we analyze everything and end up doing nothing. The bottom line is we don’t like the process, we just want the prize. We want to have a great body without putting in the work. We want to have money by looking for money creating shortcuts. In short, we want every goal to happen in an instant.
But can all of these happen without putting in the work? The answer is NO.
A great body requires working out 3 to 4x a week with a great meal plan. Getting paid requires hard work, rejections, early mornings, and late nights. Amazing things require systems.
Systems are almost the antithesis of goals. Replacing milestones with routines that will become second-nature to you. It will even help you surpass your goals.
Let’s give an example of Goals vs Systems
Getting lean is a goal
Graduating from college is a goal
Working out every morning, tracking down macros, and getting enough sleep is a system
Studying every night, and taking down notes is a system
Goals are macro, Systems are micro.
Make a system that will work for you. It does not have to be that big and grand, it must be maintainable then increase it incrementally as the old systems have become second-nature to you. Don’t get impatient with the result, fall in love with the process. Yes, goals are great, but to be the best you have to create a system that will get you there. If you want better results, then forget about setting goals. Focus on your system instead.
