“Bata pa naman kami.”
I hear this a lot from young couples with kids.
And honestly, I understand.
When you're young, married, and raising a family, ang daming kailangang unahin.
Bahay.
Bills.
Groceries.
Tuition.
Career.
Savings.
Mga pangarap para sa mga anak.
Kaya kapag napag-usapan ang insurance, madaling sabihin:
“Later na lang.”
“Healthy pa naman kami.”
“Bata pa kami.”
“Kapag may extra na.”
But here's something worth thinking about:
What if “later” never comes?
Imagine a family with two young children.
Both parents are working.
Both contribute to the household income.
May bills.
May tuition.
May mortgage or rent.
May mga pangarap na gustong maabot.
Everything is manageable.
Until one day…
one of the parents is suddenly gone.
The family doesn't just lose a husband or a wife.
They may also lose a source of income.
And suddenly, the surviving parent has to ask:
“Paano ang tuition?”
“Paano ang monthly expenses?”
“Paano ang future ng mga bata?”
All while dealing with the emotional loss.
That's why family insurance isn't about expecting something bad to happen.
It's about preparing for a responsibility that already exists.
Because when you have children, your income isn't just for you anymore.
There are people who depend on you.
Your spouse.
Your children.
Your family.
And here's the thing about being young:
You have time to prepare.
You can protect your income while you're still healthy.
You can build a financial safety net before your family actually needs it.
Because we spend so much time preparing for the things we want to happen:
Buying a home.
Sending our kids to school.
Building a business.
Saving for retirement.
But sometimes, we forget to prepare for the things we hope never happen.
We can't control everything that happens in life.
But we can control how prepared our family is.
So if you're a young couple with children, ask yourselves:
“If something happened to either of us tomorrow, would our family still be financially okay?”
If you're not sure, that's okay.
You don't need to figure everything out today.
But maybe it's time to start the conversation.
Because protecting your family isn't about expecting the worst.
It's about making sure that even when life doesn't go according to plan…
the future you've worked so hard to build can still continue.
Build the family.
Build the future.
And protect both.
