Insurance 101 for Working Professionals
"I already have HMO and life insurance from my company. Isn't that enough?"
It's one of the most common questions I hear.
The answer is: It depends on what you're trying to protect.
Many employees assume their company benefits will always be there. They're a fantastic benefit—but they're designed to support your employment, not necessarily your long-term financial security.
Here are a few things worth understanding:
✅ Your company HMO is for healthcare today.
It helps with medical expenses while you're employed, subject to your company's plan limits and coverage.
✅ Your company life insurance protects your family while you're employed.
If you change jobs or leave the company, your coverage may change or end.
✅ Personal insurance belongs to you.
It stays with you regardless of where you work (subject to your policy's terms and conditions and premium payments).
It's not about replacing your employee benefits—it's about understanding how they work together.
A few questions to ask yourself:
• If I resigned tomorrow, what insurance benefits would I still have?
• If I became seriously ill, would my savings be enough?
• If something happened to me, would my family's financial goals still be on track?
• Am I relying entirely on benefits I don't personally own?
You don't need to buy anything today.
You simply need to understand your options before you need them.
That's why I offer a complimentary Insurance 101 consultation—a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where we review your current coverage, explain common insurance concepts, and answer your questions.
Whether you decide you need additional protection or not, my goal is for you to leave the conversation more informed than when you arrived.
