On 28th of February 2019, I was a Peace Diplomacy Awardee given by the International Peace Diplomacy Corps. I received two awards: 1) Peace Diplomacy Alfred Bernhard Nobel Award (Law and Order) Gold and 2) Peace Diplomacy Amartya Kumar Sen Award (Economy) Gold.

The event was attended by various Ambassadors, Consuls and members of the Diplomatic Corps of the United Nations from different countries.

Also in attendance were Ms. Melina Nathan, United Nations Peace and Development Advisor and UN Philippines Resident Coordinator, and Asec. Maria Cecilia Papa of Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.

I am happy that I was able to again open and introduce Santa Fe to new opportunities.

HON. JOSE B. ESGANA, CPA is an honoree of the Peace Diplomacy Alfred Bernhard Award on Law and Order- GOLD under the 1st Peace Diplomacy Awards 2019 commissioned by the International Peace Diplomacy Corps, Inc.

Mayor Esgana serves as the Muncipal Mayor of Santa Fe, Cebu since July 1, 2013. The Yolanda typhoon challenged his leadership in less than six months of assumption as it damaged its municipality more specifically its two islets with four barangays.

Under Mayor Esgana’s contemporary leadership, Santa Fe’s New Centralized Port Terminal, Negosyo Center, and the two-storey Public Market advances economic growth better today. This further led to the opening of the Land Transportation Office Santa Fe, Mayor Esgana was recognized by the LTO VII Regional Director. Economic infrastructures through the establishment of ATM Machines among others boosted the growth of the municipality convenient for local residents and tourists as the municipality sets for international hubs for conferences.

Mayor Esgana promotes tourism making his constituents capable of the technical skills education advancement imperative to the livelihood programs which prompted significant economic development of the municipality. Among the programs includes the popularization of organic farming, institutionalizing the standard septage and waste water to commercial establishments.

Mayor Esgana was commended twice by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Division Head Quarters during the 44th Founding Anniversary Celebration of the 3rd Infantry (SPEARHEAD) Division of the Philippine Army for his invaluable services rendered that immensely contributed to the successful accomplishments of the command mission towards attaining sustainable development and just and lasting peace in Central and Western Visayas by having the initiative on how to counter counter-insurgency/terrorism, being a leader in the community as a Local Chief Executive (LCE) and as one who initiated the task force with CAFGU/CAA Volunteers Army Detachment in Bantayan Island in May 2017.

Mayor Esgana was also honored by the Central Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command Headquarters for his invaluable support in successful implementation of the AFP’s advocacies and programs in the Visayas particularly in promoting Peace and Development in the area in November 2018.

Manila, Philippines – Upang maisaayos ang problema sa basura inaprubahan kaninang tanghali Oktubre 29, 2018 (Lunes) ng National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) ang 10-year solid waste management (SWM) plan ng 30 munisipalidad, bayan, at lungsod sa Cebu, Bohol at Zamboanga del Norte bilang pagtupad sa compliance ng Republic Act No. 9003 o ang Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

Ayon sa ulat, ang NSWMC ay pangunahing ahensya na ang pangunahing tungkulin ay tignan at ipatupad ang angkop at tamang paraan sa Solid Waste Management (SWM) plan ng local government unit (LGUS) na pagtatapon ng basura bilang mandato ng RA 9003.

Nilagdaan kanina ni DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and LGU Concerns Benny D. Antiporda ang 10-year solid waster management plan ng may 30 bayan, munisipalidad at lungsod na kinabibilangan ng Alcantara, Alcoy. Argao, Asturias, Balamban, Catmon, Compostela, Daanbantayan, Dalaguete, Danao, Manadaue, Medelline, Moalboal, Poro, SAmboan, Sante FE, Tabongon, San Fernando, Carcar na pawang nasa lalawigan ng Cebu.
