1. The Federal Government has published the passport numbers of 100 travelers, who failed to undergo the mandatory COVID-19 test after returning to Nigeria. Their details were published by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Saturday. It said the restrictions started from January 1, 2021 and would last till June 30, 2021.

2. The Chief of Protocol to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Tosin Ogunbodede has lost his life in a fatal road accident. Ogunbodede, a close aide of the governor was said to have died in an accident that occurred on Saturday night along Ilesha highway. The accident also claimed the life of his driver.

3. Kaduna State Government has confirmed the killing of a cleric in Igabi, and a community leader in Jema’a LGA of the state. Confirming the incidents on Saturday, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Mr. Samuel Aruwan said, the security agents informed the State Government that armed bandits invaded Kawaran Rafi village in Igabi local government and killed one Danleeman Isah, the Chief Imam of the village. Similarly, security agencies reported the murder of the Sarkin Yaki of Godogodo, Mr Yohanna Abu, by a gang of kidnappers.

4. At least, seven farmers were said to have been killed and many others injured by armed bandits in Mashegu Local Government Council of Niger State. It was gathered taht the incident occurred on Thursday morning. Report claims the farmers were killed at a farm in Babban Rami while trying to convey their farm produce home. Eyewitness account stated that the armed bandits, stormed the farm and opened fire indiscriminately on the farmers, killing seven and leaving several others injuries.

5. Boko Haram fighters have abducted a staff of the United Nations (UN) along Damaturu-Maiduguri road in Borno State. Held captive is Abubakar Garba Idris, aka Alooma, a Senior Protection Assistant with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The terrorists ambushed vehicles conveying commuters near Matari village between Minok to Jakana highway.

6. The All Progressives Congress, APC, guber candidate during the 2019 election in Enugu State, Senator Ayogu Eze, on Saturday, hinted that two more governors from the Southeast were on their way to the party. Ayogu spoke at the Enugu State APC Secretariat. He was also optimistic that the APC would form the next government in Enugu State.

7. The Deputy National President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Chika Onuegbu, is dead. Report claims that the former Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of TUC and National Industrial Relations Officer of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), died after a brief illness. Sources said he complained of headache early Saturday and was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost.

8. A 16-year-old girl has accused the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun of sexual harassment. The teenager, who identified herself as Melojuekun Barakat Mayowa, spoke in a viral video on Saturday. Mayowa, an indigene of Ogun Waterside Local Government, narrated how the Commissioner plotted with another teacher to take her to his house where she was sexually harassed. But the Commissioner has since denied the allegation.

9. A former presidential candidate in the last general elections, Kingsley Moghalu has condemned the reported arrest of Omoyele Sowore. Moghalu asked the government to release Sowore, adding that engaging in protest is his right as a Nigerian.

10. The Federal Government of Nigeria has given new conditions for telecommunication service subscribers to replace damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen SIM cards. A joint statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Ikechukwu Adinde; and Head, Corporate Communication, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Kayode Adegoke on Friday, said subscribers must present their National Identification Numbers (NIN) for their SIM cards to be replaced.

2. The Anambra State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, Extra-Judicial Killings and other Related Matters has said that it would invite ex-governor, Peter Obi or anyone indicted by petitioners to appear before the panel and also give testimonies.
The chairman of the panel, Justice Veronica Umeh was reacting to a petitioner, Chief Bonaventure Mokwe who had linked the former governor, Mr Peter Obi to the operations of SARS in the State.

3. Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings is dead.
He passed away on Thursday at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

4. The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been sworn-in for a second term in office.
Obaseki was sworn-in at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the state capital, on Thursday.

5. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 212 new COVID-19 infections.
The NCDC disclosed this on its verified website, adding that the 212 new cases bring the total number of infected people in Nigeria to 64,728.

6. The Presidency has reacted to reports that repentant Boko Haram members will be paid N150,000 monthly.
Bashir Ahmad, media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari described the report as false, urging Nigerians to disregard the report.

7. No fewer than five persons have been killed in the last two days as a result of a suspected cult-related clash between members of Eiye and Aye confraternities.
It was gathered that some of the active participants were among those who recently escaped from the Benin and Oko prisons as they continued their war of supremacy.

8. Men of the Nigerian Army have reportedly arrested and detained a cobbler identified as Samson Ononiwu, who tried to save two soldiers that ran into his apartment after being chased by hoodlums identified by security agencies as members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Samson was said to have sustained a deep cut on his head while attempting to protect the soldiers from hoodlums.

9. The Federal Government on Thursday began the disbursement of N20,000 grant to rural women in Bauchi State for them to start small businesses with a view to alleviating their sufferings.
While flagging off the disbursement in Azare, the headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of the state, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, informed that over 150,000 beneficiaries across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would benefit from the programme.

2. The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed details of his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Sanwo-Olu said he presented the demands of protesters to the president, adding that Buhari restated his commitment to a holistic reform of the Nigeria Police Force.

3. The United Nations (UN) on Tuesday appealed to End SARS protesters to remain peaceful.
Edward Kallon, UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, who made the appeal via his Twitter account, reiterated the support of the world body for Nigeria’s solidity.

3. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed sadness over the death of End SARS protesters.
He told the Police to exercise caution while dealing with demonstrators, insisting that no Nigerian’s blood needs to be spilled or life lost during a peaceful protest.

4. A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the formation of a new unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

5. Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has been issued his certificate of return.

1. The Nigerian Air Force, Sunday revealed the identity of the killer of the late Flying Officer, Tolulope Arotile. NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Ibikunle Daramola, made this known during a press briefing on Sunday in Abuja. Daramola identified Arotile’s ex-classmate who drove the car that hit her as ‘Mr. Nehemiah Adejoh’. Others in the car were Mr Igbekele Folorunsho and Mr Festus Gbayegun.

2. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has tested positive for coronavirus. Onyeama confirmed the development in a tweet on Sunday. He said his result came back positive after a fourth test, adding that he was on his way to an isolation center.

3. With few hours to governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ondo State, one of the leading aspirants, Ife Oyedele has withdrawn from the race. He consequently declared his support for Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s second term ambition. He made the declaration on Sunday night at the Government House where he said that the decision was in the interest of the party in order to be formidable during the October 10 governorship polls.

4. Similarly, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi on Sunday lashed out at his boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for tagging him a wrong choice of deputy. 5. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved August 21 for tertiary institutions to commence first and second choice admission for the 2020/2021 session. This was contained in the 2020 admission guidelines signed by JAMB’s Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, on Sunday.

6. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has warned that the Federal Government’s Special Works Programme (SPW) is for all Nigerians. He said the job scheme is not only for members of the All Progressives Congress, APC. He also said that he had never ordered that the forms for the SPW be given to APC members.

7. The Defence Headquarters has said that Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have eliminated top commanders and members of Boko Haram terrorists in recent encounters in the northeast. The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche disclosed this on Sunday in a statement in Abuja. Enenche explained that the troops had on July 17, killed six terrorists at Kolofata, a community on the Republic of Cameroon border, in an attempt to cross towards Sambisa Forest.

8. Professor Ndubueze Amaechi, the father of late Uzochi Ndubieze, has demanded a thorough investigation of the unfortunate death of his son in Russia. Uzochi Ndubueze, a native of Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, reportedly drowned in Russia last week. But his father, on Sunday specifically, called on the Nigeria Diaspora Commission and Nigerian Ambassador to Russia and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid to ensure justice is served regarding his son’s death as they suspect foul play.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has told Nigerians to prepare for surprises, as the presidential panel investigating suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, gets set to submit its findings. Shehu said that with the updates the presidency had received so far, the outcome would be shocking.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to an allegation made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu that it sold its candidacy to the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki for N15 billion. 1. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday, confirmed 575 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.
With the latest figure, there are now 29, 286 confirmed cases and 654 deaths in the country.

2. Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, said he has recovered from COVID-19. The governor confirmed his latest health status on Monday while briefing reporters at the Government House in Akure, the state capital.

3. Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was on Monday invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations that he owns four properties. He was also alleged to have transferred funds abroad through a third party.

4. Medical doctors at the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, Akure, Ondo State have stopped attending to patients admitted at the facility, following the increasing figures of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Sunshine State. The doctors under the aegis of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, NAGGMDP, blamed the state government led by Rotimi Akeredolue, on the manner at which the COVID-19 pandemic was being handled in the state.

5. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has revealed that the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will now commence on the 4th of August.
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, who disclosed this on Monday during the briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, further explained that a decision on when the National Examinations Council, NECO, National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, will be taken after the WASSCE.

6. The death has been announced of Inuwa Abdulkadir, former Vice Chairman (North West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Abdulkadir, 54, passed away Monday morning at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.

7. The Secretary to Ondo State Government, SSG, Ifedayo Abegunde has resigned his appointment from the government of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Abegunde who confirmed his resignation on Monday morning, added that his next line of actions politically would be communicated within the next 24 hours.

8. Following the resignation of Ifedayo Abegunde as Secretary to Ondo State Government, SSG, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has appointed Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Akeredolu while confirming the new appointment asked Oluwatuyi to resume immediately.

9. The former Secretary to Ondo State Government, SSG, Ifedayo Abegunde has disclosed that his erstwhile principal, Rotimi Akeredolu lost the 2016 governorship election to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Eyitayo Jegede. According to him, it was through his power and that of some other APC pillars that made INEC to declare Akeredolu governor after he had lost.

10. The Police Service Commission has dismissed ten senior police officers and reduced the rank of eight others at its 8th Plenary Meeting, which spanned three weeks and ended on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. In a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations of the service, the dismissed officers included one Superintendent of Police (SP), five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) and four Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).

1. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the Benue State University (BSU) and Vice Chairman of the State Action Committee on COVID-19, Prof. Godwin Achinge, is dead.
Achinge died on Sunday afternoon in Jos, Plateau State due to complications arising from coronavirus.

2. A boat mishap Sunday afternoon claimed over 23 lives on River Benue at Kwaghter axis.
Report said the boat was said to have had twenty-eight people on board conveying Christian faithful to an annual convention when it capsized, leaving many passengers dead.

3. The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Cross River State chapter has withdrawn its services from all medical facilities in the state.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, from the state chairman of the association, Agam Ayuk, on Sunday, the association claimed five positive cases had their tests done at an NCDC-approved laboratory, but their results were not published in the agency’s situation report.

4. A total of 544 new cases of coronavirus infections have been recorded in Nigeria. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, which announced the figure on Sunday, said Lagos State recorded the highest figure of 199 cases, while Ebonyi State followed with 65 cases.

5. The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has released a list of testing centres in Abuja for coronavirus.
FCTA in a post on its official Twitter handle on Sunday, listed seven hospitals where COVID-19 tests can be carried, which include Garki General hospital and Nyanya hospital.

6. The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, have announced that 238 Nigerians who were stranded in Turkey arrived have at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to the commission, the returnees tested negative for COVID-19 but are expected to go on a 14-day isolation, in line with the guidelines set by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

7. A former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof Samson Ukpabi, is dead. Ukpabi died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, in Enugu after a brief illness on Sunday.

8. The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has debunked examination timetable circulating in Nigeria. WAEC said the timetable did not emanate from it.

9. The police have confirmed the abduction of Chairman of Delta chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Goodluck Ofobruku, on Saturday night in Asaba.
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday in Asaba, said that Ofobruku was a victim of armed robbery before he was kidnapped at gunpoint.

10. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has given President Muhammadu Buhari 14 days to direct the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and anti-corruption agencies, to probe an missing N300 billion public funds. In a circular to airlines signed by Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said domestic airports that will be opened include: Omagwa International Airport Port Harcourt, Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja, Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano.

3. Lagos State has recorded 17 COVID-19 related deaths in two-days.
The State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, who made the disclosure, also stated that the State has 4191 active COVID-19 cases, while 875 patients have been discharged.

6. Nigerian government, through the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 has warned congregants against activities such as kissing, hugging, shaking or touching at worship centres.
The PTF National Coordinator, Sani Aliyu, said that churches/mosques facilities must be structured in a way that physical distancing can be observed.

7. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has debunked claims in certain quarters that he is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Obaseki, who refuted the claim while speaking at a meeting with the ‘Obaseki Mandate Group’ in Abuja on Tuesday, maintained that he will achieve his second tenure on the platform of the APC.

8. A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday discharged former Kogi West Senator, Dino Daniel Melaye of criminal charges leveled against him by the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF.
The FCT High Court cleared Melaye of giving false information to police, as claimed by the AGF.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina , of Nigeria’s support in his bid to get re-elected as the bank’s president.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday, quoted the President as speaking at State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, while hosting Adesina on a courtesy visit, where he also told the AfDB’s president that “Nigeria will stand solidly behind him”.

10. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the ongoing investigations into the death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omosuwa from the Edo State Police Command to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, on Tuesday evening, the IGP’s directive is sequel to the preliminary report from the team of investigators and forensic experts earlier deployed to assist the Edo State Police Command in the investigations into the unfortunate incident.

1. Coronavirus: FG Suspends Evacuation Of Stranded Nigerians.The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the further evacuation of stranded Nigerians overseas. Naija News reports that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who made this known on Wednesday, said the development is to allow take-off of a new policy on the evacuation of Nigerians.

2. Money Laundering Charge: Court Adjourns Oyo-Ita’s Trial To July 8. The Federal High Court in Abuja has readjourned the 18-count corruption charges suit filed against the former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita to July 8, 2020. The hearing date was adjourned by Justice Taiwo Taiwo following the absence of a prosecuting counsel from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC).

3. APC Faction Picks Ize-Iyamu As Edo Governorship Candidate. The political drama In Edo State has gotten more intense as the race for the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) might be streamlined between Godwin Obaseki and Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The union released a statement where it stated that the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has violated the agreement of 2019 and should be quickly reversed.

People living in the Dapchi community of Yobe State have appealed to the federal government to urgently redeploy soldiers back to their community. The residents lamented that soldiers have left their area after an attack by Boko Haram that resulted in the burning of their camp.

10. Trump Wants To Shut Down Social Media. The United States President, Donald Trump, has threatened to shut down all social media platforms after a fall out with micro-blogging site, Twitter. Naija News reports that Twitter had labelled two of Trump’s tweets “unsubstantiated”.
