The common issues of neonatal baby would be neonatal jaundice and premature birth.

🤱Jaundice is the yellowish discolouration of the skin caused by an increase of bilirubin in the blood. Neonatal jaundice occurs within the first month of the baby's life. Jaundice is very common and occurs in 5️⃣0️⃣% of babies in the first week of life.

🤰Annually, an average of 12.3% of the 500,000 births recorded in Malaysia are premature, says the health ministry’s director of medical development division, Datuk Dr Azman Abu Bakar👨‍⚕️. Lack of awareness and knowledge on prematurity is the main cause of rise in the number of cases. 📈

👶Most babies are born healthy, but when a baby has a condition that is present from birth, it is called a congenital condition. Congenital conditions can be inherited or caused by environmental factors. Infant congenital conditions generally range from defects that can be easily corrected (like cleft palate) or to more severe conditions (like Down’s syndrome).
