A colleague showed me my interview on China Press — translated through Google Lens.

I smiled. Thought it was quite cute.
So I explained — it’s pinyin, the Chinese pronunciation. Sometimes it sounds close to the English name, sometimes a little different.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to platforms like SAYS, Focus Malaysia, Smart Investor, LoanStreet, The Malaysian Reserve, 4E Journal —
and now, a Chinese press.

I realised something after my client meetings this weekend.

They were all with women.

Which made me smile a little — especially when I remembered it’s International Women’s Day.

Different women.

Different life stages.

But the conversations somehow felt connected.

A daughter brought her dad to do a will because he’s going for a high-risk surgery soon. You could feel how much she wanted to make sure everything would be okay.

Two young ladies shared honestly that saving money has been harder than they expected.

A mum quietly holding the fort for her family, making decisions to keep things stable.

And a single lady who walked in worried she was behind in life…but left relieved after seeing her full financial planning report.

She wasn’t behind.

She was actually on track.

Sometimes, women carry a lot of invisible responsibility.
As daughters.
As wives.
As mums.
Or simply as someone trying to build a stable life for herself.

And often, what we really need isn’t more financial products.

It’s clarity.

A safe space to ask:

“Is that BTS?” Rafiq asked.

I was holding a random toy from a McD kids’ meal — bubur for breakfast, kids’ meal for curiosity.

I just wanted to see what surprise I’d get.

It was J-Hope.

“Effa is a huge J-Hope fan,” Rafiq said.

“Then I will gift it to her. I’m not a fan anyway.”

When I passed it to Effa, she screamed.
Like… actually screamed.

Then she hugged me — the kind of hug you don’t plan, you just feel.

All from a tiny plastic toy.
Something random to me.
Everything to her.

And that’s when it clicked.

Value isn’t about size.
Or price.
Or effort.

It’s about connection.

The right thing,
to the right person,
at the right moment —
can feel life-changing.

That was her text.

No long explanation.
Just shock.

Later, she told me what happened.

Downloaded an APK file that was sent to her.
Something she’d done before. Nothing felt unusual.

Until her phone went black.

A very last-minute decision that turned out better than expected.

On Friday night, I suddenly felt like joining the Purdue professional event the next morning. Totally unplanned… but as usual, the event never disappoints.

I really appreciated Naddia’s sharing on Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

With how fast AI is moving now, EQ feels more important than ever — it’s the human skill we need to keep strengthening.

She reminded us that EQ is actually learnable.
It’s really about understanding our own emotions, and also being aware of how others are feeling.

During Q&A, someone asked a very honest question:

“I know I need to control my emotions… but sometimes my emotions take over. How do I deal with it?”

Naddia shared a simple question we can ask ourselves in that moment:

👉 “Am I serving myself, or am I serving the situation?”

Such a good reminder.
And like anything else, it takes practice. We don’t just “get it right” immediately.

It also made me think about how emotional decision-making shows up in money too.

We know what we should do… but feelings like fear, guilt, or FOMO can still take over.

With awareness and small conscious steps, we can improve — both in EQ and in our money decisions.

Two little wins of the day 💪

1️⃣ After 12 weeks of consistent strength training (3 times a week), I can finally do an incline push-up with proper form. My personal trainer said it’s a huge improvement — progress takes time, but it’s always worth it.

2️⃣ A client shared that engaging in full financial planning with me has been one of her best big purchases this year. She said her financial anxiety has eased since having a proper plan and taking action.

My heart is full today.

Had a full financial planning report presentation with a renewal client.

As always, we ended the session with some reflection — and her words stayed with me:

That awareness is what I love most about this process.

It’s about holding up a mirror, seeing your goals clearly, and understanding what needs to shift to get there.

You know that “aha” moment when things just click?

That’s what I saw again and again on Sunday at Invest Smart Fest FinPlan4U.

I spent my afternoon (all the way till night!) conducting financial planning consultations — meeting participants from their 30s to 60s, each with their own story, goals, and questions.

What really stayed with me was this: every time I shared about 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, their eyes lit up with curiosity and relief — like a lightbulb moment. 💡
