Let’s do great things together! I firmly believe that teamwork can take us places that we have never dreamt of. I strongly focus on the youth and the factors that mould them and work towards creating a motivating learning environment by developing the infrastructure of the SIRC. These are some of the bigger milestones I hope to achieve. I earnestly appeal to you to take this as my personal request

Profile of R.Marimuthu
When you do something with passion, it translates into big things far bigger than anything we have dreamt of. R. Marimuthu is a man who wears many hats and yet brings his own signature of excellence into every one of them. With strong leadership capabilities, he is a visionary and inspiring leader. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and an eminent and respected businessman and a patron of Fine Arts. He has dabbled in various lines of business ranging from the media to real estate. Wherever he went, he left his mark and made a visible difference with his innovative ideas and inherent sense of what would really work. His vision was a “Home For All” and he ventured into building and providing housing finance for affordable homes to the middle and lower-middle classes even during the middle of the 80’s. He is a philanthropist and a patron of the Fine Arts. Background & Early Career
He was born in 1956 and hails from an illustrious Mirasdar family in Mannargudi, Tanjore. He completed his B.Com from the Madras University and went on to do his Articleship with K. Subramanian & Co and completed his Chartered Accountancy. Awards and Accolades
The Awards and accolades that he has won are numerous but here are a select few. He was honoured by luminaries in their respective fields such as Former Presidents Honourable Mr. Abdul Kalam, Mr. Venkatraman, Mr. Arjun Singh, Mr. Bhisma Narayan Singh, Padmashri Kamalahasan and many others.
• In 1992, he was conferred “UDYOGJYOTHI” by the All India Economic Forum.
• In 1992, he was conferred the “UDYOGRATNA”
• In the year 1994 he was conferred “BHARATJYOTHI” Award
• He is the recipient of NACOSI- SIBEA Award
• He was awarded the Vocational Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of
Madras, T. Nagar in 1992. Bringing pride to the SIRC
His inception into SIRC was as an associate in 1985 and he became a fellow member in 1992. He has been an active and committed member who has made valuable contributions to this prestigious body. In 98-99, he had generously constructed the massive Golden Jubilee Hall for SIRC spread over 6600 sq ft. What is remarkable is that he did not seek recognition for this noble deed and gave them the option of choosing the name rather than following the tradition of naming it after the donor. He was co-opted to the Infrastructure Committee of the SIRC in 2013-14. He made every position he was placed in to count and was the man behind the entire planning to develop the institute’s premises into a multi-storeyed signature building. He is now a co-opted member of the Professional Development Committee of the SIRC and he took this responsibility with ease and grace. He took the initiative to reach out to several prominent people and make them speak at the Monday Marvel Meetings like The former Chief Election Commissioner Mr T.S. Krishnamurthi, Former Union Minister R. Velu, Mr T.K Ramachandran I.A.S, IT Secretary, Govt. Of Tamil Nadu. He was also appointed as the Chairman for the Sponsorship & Exhibition Committee of the SIRC Conference, ‘Olirattum 2015’ He was also appointed to the conference core committee and played a major advisory role in various other committees of the conference. He had presented papers on various subjects in the Regional Conference held at Kodaikanal and Kolli Hills. He also presented papers in Sub-regional conference in Tiruchirappali and also in many other forums. Committed to Good Causes
Marimuthu is a philanthropist and he firmly believes that everything we have is God given and it’s the duty of everyone to give back to society. Education can transform the world and he has over the years supported many deserving students and helped them reach their dreams. He has built a classroom for the Loyola Matriculation School besides many other such initiatives. He has always loved to motivate others to excel and was the main sponsor for the All India Senior Woman Hockey Championship in Hyderabad during 91-92. He has been an avid Rotarian for 25 years and worked in many capacities including being the Chartered President of the Rotary Club of Madras Mount during 95-96. He is a Level II major donor. He has been part of many fund raising drives for Little Drops, Udavum Karangal and many others orphanages. He funded a TV program for propagation of Eye Donation in 1992. He had donated generously to the building and upkeep of temples but has always refused getting recognised for such deeds. Patronising the Fine Arts
The measure of a civilization can be gauged from its Arts and Tamil Nadu is abundant in these. Marimuthu is fond of these Fine Arts like music, dance and theatreand has gone to great lengths to ensure that these indigenous arts do not die out and has helped put them on the pedestal. He revived Tamil theatre which was in the doldrums and it’s flourishing today with an abundance of artistes. He was the Organising Chairman for ‘Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru’, a program that showcased the talent of folk artistes from Tamilnadu, it helped many of them gain the audience and spotlight they richly deserved. This is being successfully conducted for the past nine years. He is the President of the Nataka Academy started in 1991-1992. He is active on this circuit as a part of many social and cultural organisations. Family
His family has been a tremendous source of support for all his endeavours and each of them are achievers in their own right. His wife Ms. Vasumathi is a well known social worker, associated with the Rotary and Inner Wheel movements. She was the Past District Chairman of Inner Wheel District 323 and was a Council Member of the Association of Inner Wheel at the national level. She has held various senior positions in the district and received the Best President Award amongst 108 clubs in the District 3230 in the year 2007-08. His son Krishna Marimuthu is a Commerce graduate and did his articleship in Varadarajan & Co and Ernst & Young. He is a percussionist and has been bagging the Best Drummer Award for three years in a row at SAARANG conducted by IIT Madras and at many other cultural events. Bubbling with ideas, Krishna is working hard to translate his dreams to the big screen. He is now an aspiring film director and has worked under several famous film directors. His daughter, Subadhra Marimuthu is a lawyer who is practising under Sr. Advocate Ms.Hema Sampath. She is a well known Bharatanatyam dancer who has given scintillating performances at various Sabhas. A highly creative and artistic dancer, she has established her own dance troupe who perform at various high profile events. She also keeps the flame of the art burning bright with her dance school. She is a very active Rotaractor, who had held various District positions and was unanimously elected the District Rotaract Representative 2016-17. She was the Chartered President of Inner Wheel Club of Chennai Verve. A Vibrant Agenda
• To create a better experience for students by improving the classrooms
• To enhance the learning environment through creating new facilities
• To raise a new high rise signature building in the premises to facilitate the functioning of the various activities
• The youth are the future, he would like to support them to practise and encourage them to rise to new heights
• Dreams of starting a CA Club where members of the fraternity in Chennai and other locations can commune with each other, make friends, exchange ideas and network
