Making Tax Digital is expanding - are you affected? 📢
Knowing the changes that MTD for Income Tax brings is important. It modernises the way self-employed sole traders and landlords report their income and expenses to HMRC, helping you stay on top of your tax and avoid end-of-year surprises ✅.
Who’s affected?
👨🏻💼 Self-employed individuals
🏠 Landlords with property income
Thresholds:
📅 From April 2026 │ income over £50,000
📅 From April 2027 │ income over £30,000
📅 From April 2028 │ income over £20,000
Why it matters:
💻 Moves UK tax records from spreadsheets & paper to a fully digital system
📊 Requires quarterly updates to keep your records accurate
⚠️ A points-based penalty system will apply for repeatedly missing deadlines or payments
