For a short while, I’ll be taking a little time away from my usual work and appointments following a family bereavement.

For my existing clients, your usual ongoing service and reviews will continue as planned, and if anything urgent arises or you need my help, please do get in touch and I will respond.

If we’re currently in the process of arranging an appointment or working through your financial plans, I haven’t forgotten about you and I’ll be in touch as I gradually return to my normal working routine.

Thank you for your understanding. ❤️

𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲?

A lot can change in 10 years… promotions, pay rises, buying a home, starting a family or planning for retirement. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒🏡💷

Yet many people don’t update their financial plans to reflect those changes. Research found that many people miss opportunities to grow their wealth, while over a third say their savings wouldn’t cover three months of expenses in an emergency.

Not sure if your financial plan still reflects your goals? An Independent Financial Adviser can help.

No matter who you're supporting, one thing's certain...

The teams that reach the latter stages don't get there by luck alone.

They have:
✅ A game plan.
✅ A long-term strategy.
✅ The ability to adapt when things don't go to plan.

Financial planning isn't that different.

Life throws injuries, extra time and unexpected twists your way too.

Having a plan doesn't guarantee you'll win every match, but it does give you the best chance of reaching your goals.

Enjoy the football tonight... and come on England!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 😁 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Love finding little honesty stalls on my travels around Devon.

I stopped and bought some fresh peas. 🫛

It’s nice to know there are still places where people leave their produce out, trust people to pay, and support their local community. 🤝

They tasted far better than supermarket peas too!

Some things to consider when taking money out of a pension… 🤔

Always seek Independent Financial Advice 🙂

While freeing up a sizeable lump sum may allow you to meet immediate financial needs, withdrawing a pension in one go is a decision that needs careful consideration, especially if it's your main retirement pot.

Preparation 💭

The people who tend to cope best are often the ones who planned ahead.

My plan for today is simple - keep the curtains closed, keep the house cool, and enjoy an iced coffee! ☕️

Whether it’s preparing for a heatwave, working towards a goal, or planning for retirement, a little preparation can make a big difference when circumstances change.

How are you staying cool this week?

Working in Devon means travelling along roads like this, brushing the hedgerows and dodging the occasional pheasant on the way to client meetings. 🛣️

For anyone not from Devon, this is what we call a main road 😂

One of the many reasons I love working where I do. ☺️

Markets move. That’s normal. 📉📈

Short-term market ups and downs are a normal part of investing, and keeping too much money in cash for the long term can sometimes make it harder to achieve your goals.

This latest blog looks at why sticking to a long term plan is often more important than reacting to short term headlines, and why patience can be one of the most valuable investment habits of all. 🪎

📊 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁?

The £3,000 annual inheritance tax gifting allowance has been £3,000 since 1981 😮

The inheritance tax nil-rate band has been £325,000 since 2009. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

The £100,000 income tax taper threshold has been unchanged since 2010. 💷

Inflation has continued 📈

So while the numbers haven’t changed, many tax allowances and thresholds have become significantly less generous in real terms. 📉

A useful reminder that tax planning is about knowing the rules, and understanding how available allowances fit into your wider goals ⚽️

Whether that’s ISAs, pensions, gifting, savings allowances or other tax reliefs, leaving allowances unused can sometimes mean missing opportunities that can’t be recovered later.

📚 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲…

This is my Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) for another year.
It’s an important part of being a regulated financial adviser.

The certificate confirms that I’ve met the qualification, ethics, training and competency requirements needed to continue providing regulated financial advice.

This is demonstrated through -

📚 Ongoing study and learning
📄 Compliance oversight and record keeping
✅ Completing ongoing annual training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
🤝 A commitment to professional standards and ethics
✔️ Meeting ongoing regulatory competency requirements
📈 Keeping up with ever-changing legislation, tax rules and financial planning developments

It’s not something you achieve once and forget about - it has to be maintained throughout the year, every year.

Behind the scenes, there are countless hours of study, learning, reviewing technical changes, and keeping knowledge up to date so clients can feel confident the advice they receive remains appropriate and current.

Professional standards matter when people are trusting you with their long-term financial planning, retirement, family, and future.☺️
