Just in case you’ve ever wondered what I actually get up to in a week…

It’s definitely not just sitting behind a desk looking at pensions!

My weeks are usually a mix of meeting clients, getting out and about networking with local businesses, working on proposals and paperwork, researching and crunching the numbers, and catching up with clients to keep everything moving in the right direction.

No two weeks are really the same, which is one of the things I love most about what I do. There’s plenty of time at the desk, but there’s also plenty of time meeting people, hearing their stories and helping them work towards what’s important to them.

Here’s a little look at a typical week in my world... 👉

If you’re a higher earner, you might assume that earning more simply means paying a little more tax.

But between certain income levels, the effective tax rate on some of your income can be around 60% once the Personal Allowance starts being reduced.

It’s one of those areas of financial planning that many people don’t realise applies to them until they look at the numbers.

There are often legitimate planning opportunities worth considering, particularly around things like pension contributions, but the right approach depends on your individual circumstances.

That’s why I always think it’s worth understanding the numbers before making any decisions.

If you’re a higher earner in Richmond, Bedale, Northallerton, Thirsk, Barnard Castle or the surrounding areas and this has made you think, “I wonder if that applies to me?” - feel free to send me a message.

Happy to have a chat and explain it further. 😊

After years of helping people with their finances, here’s what I wish everyone knew… 👇

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start planning.

A few things I wish more people understood:

✔️ You don’t need to be wealthy to benefit from financial planning.
Good planning is about making the most of what you have.

✔️ Small decisions can make a big difference over time.
Pensions, savings and investments don’t need to be perfect - they need to be looked at regularly.

✔️ Your financial plan should change as your life changes.
Marriage, children, career changes, inheritance, retirement -your finances should evolve with you.

✔️ It’s never too early to ask questions.
You don’t need to wait until retirement is around the corner before understanding your options.

✔️ Avoiding your finances doesn’t make them simpler.
Sometimes, having one straightforward conversation can give you more clarity and confidence.

✔️ There isn’t always a one-size-fits-all answer.
What works for one person may not be right for someone else.

For me, financial planning is about more than numbers.

It’s about understanding what matters to you, where you are now and where you want to go.

If you’re unsure about your finances or simply don’t know where to start, let’s have a chat.

High earner? Business owner? Not sure your pension is working as hard as it could?

These are the conversations I have with clients every week.

I work with individuals and business owners across Richmond, Bedale, Northallerton, Thirsk, Barnard Castle and the surrounding areas, helping them make sense of the more complicated parts of financial planning.

Three areas I particularly help with:

💷 The 60% tax trap
If you’re a high earner, you may be paying an effective 60% rate on part of your income. There are often important planning considerations around this that are worth understanding.

🏢 Business owners
Your business, personal finances and retirement plans are often closely connected. Good planning means looking at the bigger picture rather than each part in isolation.

🏦 Pensions
Whether you're building your pension, approaching retirement or simply unsure whether you're making the most of your options, understanding where you stand is important.

My approach is simple:

Understand where you are.
Understand where you want to go.
Then build a plan to help you get there.

If you're local and one of these areas has been on your mind, let's have a chat.

Send me a message to get started.

You’re great at running your business… but is your personal financial plan keeping up?

For many self-employed professionals, the business comes first. Income can fluctuate, pensions get put off, investments become an “I’ll sort that later” job, and there’s often no clear plan for what happens if you want to slow down, sell the business or retire.

That’s where financial planning can make a difference.

At Nathan White Wealth Management, I help self-employed professionals turn all those moving parts into a practical, personalised plan, so you can enjoy life today while knowing you’re building towards tomorrow.

If your finances feel a little more complicated than they should, it might be time to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Your life can change a lot in a year but when was the last time you checked whether your insurance changed with it?

A new baby, a new home, a change in income, a new job or simply taking on more financial responsibility can all mean it’s worth reviewing your protection.

Insurance is one of those things that’s easy to put in place and forget about. But the cover that was right for you a few years ago might not be right for you now.

So, this time of year, why not take a few minutes to ask yourself: has anything changed?

If the answer is yes - it could be time for a review.

Get in touch if you’d like to talk through your current cover and whether it still meets your needs.

Financial advice is about more than numbers. It's about confidence.

One of the parts of my role I enjoy most is speaking to local businesses, networking groups and community organisations about financial planning.

Money can often feel like a topic people avoid, but it doesn't have to be that way.

By having open conversations, answering questions and breaking down financial jargon, I hope to make financial advice feel more accessible and less intimidating.

Whether I'm presenting to a room full of people or sitting down with someone one-to-one, my goal is always the same to help people feel more confident about their financial future.

I know that speaking to a financial adviser for the first time can feel a little daunting.

Many people tell me they're worried they'll be judged for not knowing enough, or that financial advice is only for people with lots of money.

The reality couldn't be more different.

I pride myself on taking the time to get to know each person, understand what's important to them and provide advice that's genuinely in their best interests.

There's no pressure, no complicated jargon and certainly no silly questions.

Financial planning is about giving you clarity and confidence, whatever stage of life you're at.

If you've been thinking about getting some advice but haven't quite taken that first step, I'd be happy to have a friendly chat.

📍 Based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, I'm proud to support individuals, families and business owners across the local area.

Summer is a great time to review your pension, not just your holiday plans.

While many people use the quieter summer months to organise their finances, pensions are often left until much later.

The reality is that your pension is likely to be one of your biggest financial assets, yet many people couldn't tell you:

✔️ How much they've built up.
✔️ Whether they're on track for the retirement they want.
✔️ If they're making the most of their annual pension allowances.
✔️ When they can realistically afford to retire.

The earlier you understand your options, the more choices you'll have.

A pension review isn't just about looking at numbers, it's about understanding whether your retirement plans still align with your goals and whether any adjustments could make a meaningful difference over time.

If it's been a while since you've reviewed your pension, perhaps this is the reminder you needed.

When people hear the phrase "building wealth," they often think about investments, pensions or growing their income.

While those things are important, real wealth is about so much more.

It's about waking up with confidence that you're on the right track.

It's knowing your family will be financially secure, whatever life brings.

It's having choices, reducing financial stress, and feeling optimistic about the future.

Financial planning isn't just about numbers it's about creating a life where your money works for you and supports the people and goals that matter most.

If you're looking for clear, personal financial advice to help you build long-term financial security, I'd love to have a conversation.

The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you invested. Pension and tax rules can change and depend on your individual circumstances.
