📸 Great to catch up with Nikki Wilson from Canterbury City Gardening today.

One of the things I enjoy most about running Freed Accountancy is getting to know the people behind the businesses. It's not just about accounts, tax returns, and deadlines. It's understanding where a business is now and helping plan where it's going next.

Today we discussed the next stage of growth for the business, some of the opportunities ahead, and how having the right financial support can help turn plans into reality.

I was also pleased to introduce Nikki to Synergy Networking Events, as I think he'll be a great fit and get a lot of value from the connections and support available there.

🚗 HMRC Mileage Rates Are Increasing for 2026/27 💷

After being frozen for around 15 years, the tax-free business mileage rate is increasing from 45p to 55p per mile (first 10,000 miles).

For business owners and employees using their own vehicle for work, this means:
✅ Higher tax-free mileage claims
✅ Better support with rising fuel and motoring costs
✅ More tax relief available

About time too… although with fuel prices lately, your car probably still drinks more than you do 🍻😂

Spent the day at Accountex London today 👌

Always good to step away from the office and see what’s changing in the accounting and tech world.

Plenty of conversations around AI, automation, MTD, compliance, and how firms can continue improving the client experience.

One thing is clear… the profession is changing fast, and firms that embrace technology while keeping the personal touch will continue to grow 📈

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is on the way, and it’s going to change how sole traders and landlords report their income.

Instead of one tax return a year, you’ll be required to:
