📂 Getting Organised Early = Less Stress Later 📂

One of the best things a sole trader can do is stay organised throughout the year rather than leaving everything until January 😅

Keeping on top of your records means:
✔️ Less stress at tax return time
✔️ Fewer missing receipts/documents
✔️ Better understanding of your income & expenses
✔️ More time to plan for tax bills
✔️ Less chance of errors

Even something as simple as:
📌 Keeping business transactions separate
📌 Saving invoices digitally
📌 Tracking expenses monthly
📌 Putting money aside for tax

can make a HUGE difference.

I always encourage clients to prepare early rather than rushing at the last minute 🧾

Need help getting your bookkeeping or Self Assessment organised?

⚠️ Sole Traders – Don’t Get Caught Out By “Payments on Account” ⚠️

One of the biggest shocks for self-employed individuals is receiving a tax bill that is MUCH higher than expected 😳

Why? Because HMRC may ask you to make a “Payment on Account” towards the following tax year.

This means your January payment could include:

✔️ Your current tax bill
PLUS
✔️ An advance payment towards next year’s tax bill

This often catches people out when:
📌 Earnings increase
📌 Little tax has been paid during the year
📌 It’s your first year with higher profits

💡 My advice? Start putting money aside regularly now rather than panicking later.

Keeping organised records throughout the year also helps avoid surprises and allows for better tax planning 📂

If you need help with:
✔️ Self Assessments
✔️ Bookkeeping
✔️ Tax planning for sole traders

Do you have a normal job, but also earn extra on the side? 👀

Maybe you’re employed but also do a bit of:
• cleaning
• beauty
• dog walking
• hair
• freelance work
• online sales

A lot of people assume PAYE means everything is covered — but that’s not always the case.
If you’re earning extra income, it’s worth checking whether a Self Assessment tax return is needed.

Are you keeping on top of your business finances each month? ✨
Monthly bookkeeping isn’t just about ticking boxes — it helps you stay in control of your business.
✅ Know what you’re earning
✅ Keep expenses organised
✅ Avoid year-end panic
✅ Stay ready for tax deadlines
✅ Better cashflow decisions
✅ More time to focus on your business

Whether you’re a sole trader, side hustle or small business, regular bookkeeping can save stress (and often money) later on.

Why wait until January?
Self Assessment doesn’t have to be a last-minute panic.
Getting it done early means:
✔ You know what tax is due sooner
✔ More time to budget and plan
✔ Less stress later in the year
✔ No rushed paperwork in December/January
If you’re self-employed and want to get ahead this year, now is a great time to start.
