Hi guys - just seen this about the Self-Employment Grant.. The latest info on who is eligible and how to claim... We had been told that the HMRC would be contacting everyone who was eligible - it looks like this has now changed..

I will update as I get any new info..

If you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have been adversely affected by coronavirus (COVID-19) find out if you can use this scheme to claim a grant.

To all my clients waiting for a payment/application on the PAYE furlough scheme.. PLEASE bear with me.. I have been working on this all week - unfortunately there is a bit of an issue with the people who are on the Director's Annual PAYE scheme and submitting the claim applications in the new software..

Basically the system does not recognise the fact that you are on the payroll as no submission has been made by the 19th March.. Obviously you were on the payroll - it's a software outage. Bear in mind that this software was pulled together in a REALLY short time. This is a known issue - I have spoken to the HMRC many times and am waiting for a call back.. As you can imagine - it is not an easy one to solve..

Talking to the HMRC again this morning.. I will get a response - and hopefully an answer so that I can get all the applications in. I don't know when this answer will come, but please know that I am on it and I will get it sorted as soon as I possibly can. Thanks for your patience! x

The HMRC have given us some more details and clarification on the PAYE "grant" scheme on this link.. Still not final details - and we still can't claim yet - but hopefully it will help to answer some of your questions...

When looking at Company Directors of a Limited company - this confirms that yes we can claim - and basically we will be claiming a weekly/monthly average of the 19/20 PAYE submission - so that is a step forward!!

Find out if you’re eligible and how much you can claim to cover wages for employees on temporary leave ('furlough') due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

So to all Employers operating a PAYE scheme including Directors of Ltd Companies.. I have just just attended a HMRC webinar to try and get more info.. honestly - nothing more to say.. I did ask the question - Are directors whose salaries are put through annually in March covered by the scheme for support... I just got the reply that all people will be covered etc... unfortunately NOT a concrete answer.. but I am hoping that in due course more detailed info will come... Keep watching this space! I will do my best to help x

Below is an email I received this morning from HMRC - It sets out the current status of the help for the self-employed - I have included the link to the Gov.uk page on the newly announced grant.. Any questions do ask - I will do my best to help. I am continuously looking to understand and see what help is out there..

The Chancellor, this evening, announced a new Self-employment Income Support Scheme to support self-employed people who have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

GOV.UK has further details about who is eligible for the scheme and how it will work.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-coronavirus-covid-19-self-employment-income-support-scheme

Self-employed people do not need to get in touch with HMRC as the scheme isn’t yet open for applications. HMRC will contact eligible customers by the beginning of June, inviting them to apply.

Unfortunately, we are aware of an increase in scam emails, calls and texts. If someone gets in touch claiming to be from HMRC, saying that financial help can be claimed or that a tax refund is owed, and asks you to click on a link or to give information such as your name, credit card or bank details, please do not respond.

HMRC will never contact you out of the blue to ask for these details.

The government has also introduced the following help for the self-employed:
• Deferral of Self Assessment Income Tax payments due in July 2020 and VAT payments due from 20 March 2020 until 30 June 2020
• Grants for businesses that pay little or no business rates
• Increased amounts of Universal Credit
• Business Interruption Loan Scheme
• Directors of their own company paid through PAYE, may be able to get support using the Job Retention Scheme.

Use this scheme if you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have lost income due to coronavirus.

To all my clients - I have been getting a number of emails and messages about the Corona Virus and support.. As u can imagine at the moment its an ever changing situation - so it's tricky to keep on top of it - but I am trying.. Still waiting to hear about some significant measures for the self-employed - hopefully today - she says crossing everything!!!

On the PAYE measures that have already been announced - talking to the HMRC this morning - even they don't know as yet how this is going to happen in practice.. They are working on it now.. So if you have any questions - do contact me. As and when I can help - I will.. In the meantime here is a resource that you might find useful!

Take care and keep safe. Debbie x

Today is an exciting day for one of our clients as it is the big launch for the See Around Britain website and mobile app!!!

So much work has gone into this site by so many people including fellow DNAS clients Authentech Web Design & Development, who has done the web site and mobile app development, and Office Gems who have worked extensively on the uploading and proof reading of the content.

A very proud day here in the DNAS office..

An app to help disabled people and visitors plan trips around Britain will be launched in Cardiff on Monday.
