The 8 Task Challenge run by TARGETevents and in partnership with Grant Thornton allows you to test yourself physically and mentally against students from the top universities in the UK.
On top of that you'll have a great day out and be in with a shot at winning up to £3,000 for you and any university club or society that you are part of.
THE CHALLENGE:
It involves students working in teams of four to complete eight tasks with the event being a cross between adventure racing and the krypton factor – so it’s designed to test you both mentally and physically.
The mental challenges will test your skills and competencies while the physical challenges are an exciting combination of canoeing, cycling and walking/running. The day will then conclude with free refreshments and food along with a prize giving ceremony. So in addition to a great day out, it will also be a perfect opportunity for you to speak with graduate recruiters in a relaxed and fun atmosphere!

THE DAY:
The day will run as follows:
• Start• Checkpoint 1 – mental task• Canoe stage• Checkpoint 2 – mental task• Cycle stage• Checkpoint 3 – mental task• Checkpoint 4 – mental task• Walk/run stage• Checkpoint 5 – mental task• Finish
THE COURSEThe course has been designed to take no longer than 4 ½ hours for someone of average fitness, who cycles at a leisurely pace and who walks the last leg. The distances of the three legs are:• Canoe – ½ mile circuit in a four person canoe• Cycle – 14 mile loop on tarmac paths with intermittent gravel sections and scenic views
Walk/run – 4 miles on tarmac paths with grass verges around the reservoir and scenic viewsThe approximate times it will take to complete each leg are:• Canoe – 10 to 15 minutes• Cycle – 75 to 120 minutes• Walk/run – 30 to 75 minutes depending on it being run or walked in a leisurely manner
PRIZES:
There is a prize fund of £8,500 being split amongst 8 competition categories, increasing your chance of winning a significant prize on the day.
