We must decolonize conservation everywhere, in cities, on farms, back gardens, in Europe, Afrika, Abya Yala, Asia, on Indigenous land, on stolen peasant lands.

By embedding ourselves within nature, working in harmony to maintain and improve ecosystems as humans have been doing since time immemorial, we will step closer in undermining and dismantling the patriarchal capitalist system that has poisoned and stolen our lands, exploited our global family, and continues to hurtle us towards ecological and environmental collapse.

As always, WTF ... You thought you wouldn't be held accountable for your complicity in this?

WTFWWF has reached the USA!
The campaign to hold to account for their violent human rights violations and ongoing facilitation of the destruction of nature is gathering momentum by campaigners in Miami, Florida (USA)!

The plan to turn 30% of the land across the globe into protected areas by 2030 continues to be pushed by "conservation" NGO's (like and ), as well as corporations and governments desperate to keep control of land and profit from it's resources and peoples.

This model of conservation has a brutal history, and continues to be peddled whilst violent evicting Indigenous and local communities from ancestral lands. Land needs to be retained by Indigenous and local communities that increase the biodiversity of ecosystems, yet are constantly presented as unable to care for their land - a racist ideology considering this has been successfully done by those communities reliant on the healthiness of ecosystems for time immemorial.

WWF, (and others... you know who you are) you have failed the youth, the communities you lied to and exploited, all life dependent on ecosystems, and not to mention all those who donate thinking your work does good.

We're coming for you 🐼🔥

⚠️COLONIAL VIOLENCE AGAINST THE MAASAI CONTINUES⚠️

Update June 17 2022

20 councillors and citizens from Loliondo tortured and imprisoned now face false murder chargers for a murder they COULD NOT HAVE COMMITTED

IMPORTANT: This pattern of imprisonment, torture and false charges is SYSTEMIC to the colonial system against Indigenous defenders in Afrika, Abya Yala and Asia - this is NOT an isolated incident

we DENOUNCE these false charges as evidently and clearly unlawful, as they amount to political prosecution against the Maasai resistance and violate national law, international human rights law and international indigenous peoples rights law

this is an attempt by the colonial state to destroy the Maasai resistance for the benefit of ELITE TOURISM and TROPHY HUNTING

⁉️ WHY IS THIS YOUR STRUGGLE?

- English elites have profited from the dispossession of their own people for centuries - less than 1% of the English population owns half of England
- Indigenous people safeguard 80% of world biodiversity- but the conservation industry would rather evict them to support trophy hunting
- British elites and their Empire have a historic responsibility for the oppression of the Maasai

will you stand with the resistance ?

There is an alternative to colonial conservation —> 💲🌱Supporting Indigenous-led community conservation🌱💲

We’re not only bringing attention to human rights abuses and ecological destruction, we’re offering alternatives to colonial conservation model. End funding for colonial conservation and redirect to Indigenous and community-based conservation.
Donate to the Indigenous GUARANI YVYRUPA COMMISSION

The Guarani Yvyrupa Commission (CGY) is an indigenous organization that brings together collectives of the Guarani people from the South and Southeast regions of Brazil in the struggle for territory. CGY has been relying on its own Guarani modes of organization, where the elders and leaders are listened to to define strategies for political action in the fight for rights. Currently, there are more than 600 lawsuits that dispute the permanence of communities on land in the regions covered by CGY.

We’re not only bringing attention to human rights abuses and ecological destruction, we’re offering alternatives to WWF colonial conservation model. End funding for colonial conservation and redirect to Indigenous and community-based conservation. Donate to Baka and Bagyeli Indigenous communities through the Indigenous Gbabandi Platform.

Gbabandi was formed in 2016 by indigenous peoples’ associations working with more than 100 indigenous Baka and Bagyeli communities in Cameroon, in order to better represent the views of indigenous forest peoples at the national level. The platform currently has nine indigenous member organisations, and this number is growing. Member organisations are based throughout Cameroon’s South and East forest regions representing Baka and Bagyeli peoples, with Bakola and Bedzang organisations expected to join soon. Each organisation has links with local indigenous communities in its area of operation.

Last September WTFWWF occupied WWF UK's headquarters in London for 4 days until they ran away from their own building to avoid conversation. They later released an open letter to us basically letting us know they're not responsible for the human rights abuses and subsequent complicity in ecological destruction that our partners are saying they're responsible for. Today we release an open reply to them, exposing the lies they peddle, and the promises of community engagement the give. Read it in full here:

In the past, many of us turned to Western-led organisations such as and African Parks in hopes they would save Earth's remaining natural landscapes.
🪓🏞
But we were sold a lie. As youth, we demand truth. In the name of protecting life, these organizations use Colonial Conservation models. This involves separating people from land: with immense cruelty, violence and without the consent of Indigenous and local communities.

🙅🏾‍♂️🙅🏽‍♀️

The experiments of Colonial conservation organisations are clear: separating humans from nature and therefore removing Indigenous and local communities from land doesn’t work. The criminal acts carried out by these ‘conservation' organisations stem from the Western capitalist idea that humans are separate from nature. Capitalist ideology often sees wilderness as something to profit from, forgetting humanity grew from the same earthly process every tree, plant and animal arose from.

🌍💚

Seeing humans as separate from nature has determined modern conservation, and its impacts are devastating. Indigenous peoples are forcefully evicted from their homelands and eco-guards (private militia) are hired to keep them out with violence.

❌🚷

Comparatively, Indigenous and local community conservation sees humans as a fundamental part of the natural world. Unlike Western-run conservation, Indigenous-led conservation recognises the incredible capacity of humans to work with, care and nourish nature. Indigenous conservation highlights the problem as not humans, but rather the systems and ways in which we see and interact with nature.

🌳🌱

We need to . Indigenous people are just 5% of the global population, yet they safeguard approximately 80% of the earth’s land biodiversity!
If there was ever a time to return land to the rightful ownership of its original Indigenous protectors and pressure the blood stained colonial conservation organizations such as selling out our environment and fellow people....that time is now.

Haven’t seen any evidence yet? - It’s on the website.

Don’t understand the history that enabled such ecological and human destruction? - Join our next Decolonize Conservation Workshop

Haven’t noticed any offering of alternative solutions? - Dig a little deeper (community-based conservation)

Sometimes onlookers say that a campaign (such as WTFWWF) may lack the complexity needed to confront, tackle, and dismantle issues like colonial conservation. We want to assure you that what you see in these social media posts only scratch the surface of the issues. There is a wealth of material on our website (and other sites such as survivalInternational.org) that dive into the complexities of colonial conservation and our campaign to dismantle it. Check it out: www.wtfwwf.org

A key reason as to why we try not to overcomplicate this issue within our social media is because decolonising conservation, (and decolonising everything for that matter) needs to be intellectually accessible to everyone! For too long the atrocities committed by colonial conservation models have remained in a highly inaccessibly intellectual spot within higher academia. And because of this the problem continues and collectively we in turn hurtle towards environmental and ecological collapse whilst our Indigenous and local community brothers and sisters relentlessly resist the persecution of those who violently seek capitalist greed. No more discussing these issues solely behind the fortified intellectual walls of academic institutions, no more dithering with emotionless and actionless words whilst the displacement, r**e, and torture of forest protectors are targetted on the ground. It’s time to share our knowledge, listen to those on the frontline, and turn words into action!

🚨🚨WWF KNOWINGLY FUNDS HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE🚨🚨

A Buzzfeed investigation has brought to light a series of WWF reports, detailing the violent treatment of Baka and Bayaka people in Central Africa by WWF funded eco-guards.

These reports dating back to March 2015, shows WWF has known about these human rights abuses for years and failed to act. They include recounts of torture and r**e of Indigenous people by WWF-funded ecoguards. This is blatant disregard for the people living with the land and complete failure to be accountable to their failings on a scale that infringes on human rights. This is all tied up with how WWF and many other consevation organisation operate, buddying up with the most polluting industries, legitimising their extraction of resources and destruction of ecosystems and environments, evicting Indigenous people from ancestral territories despite their ability to restore biodiversity, whilst capitalising of white tourism in safari zones and trophy hunting zones. and its rise cannot be allowed to continue.

These reports expose WWF as the corrupt, organisation it is.

I bet you thought conservation is good for the planet right? Like the rest of us do you see it as one of the ways we can start turning the environmental and ecological crisis around?
Well actually you´re right.

Unfortunately, the majority of conservation being done-especially by the big dogs such as WWF, Wildlife Conservation Society, The Nature Conservancy- is doing much more harm than good in so many parts of the world. And the way in which this is happening is through organizations violating the human rights of indigenous and local communities who are often the best in the world at conserving biodiversity.

Colonial conservation better known as fortress conservation, has a sinister and brutal history; a history involving while supremacist colonial settlers violently displacing and murdering countless indigenous people in order to claim ownership of land. From there the colonisers were able to extract, exploit and export Fortress conservation across the world. This model remains operational even today, and just as violent, extractive and destructive.
