Do you have an Interest Only mortgage coming to an end?
Last month, I was able to help couple in their 70s who were being chased by their lender to repay their interest only mortgage. The mortgage had already reached its end and the one year extension they had obtained was now weeks away from expiring too.
Having lived in their home for 23 years, they had no desire to sell it and downsize, they wanted a solution that allowed them to stay put. I was able to help them clear their interest only mortgage using equity release and at a lower rate than they had been paying on their previous lender’s standard variable rate.
The modern equity release market allows them to stay in the home they love, they remain the owners, they just now have security of not having to refinance again, unless they wish, they can choose to pay all the interest, none of the interest or something in between. They also have the option to overpay if they wish and reduce the loan over time. All of this was achieved in a short number of weeks with a combination of meetings and phone calls and one solicitor’s appointment.
