Employers – the P60 deadline is this Friday, 31st May.

If you haven't issued P60s to your employees yet, time is almost up.

By Friday, you must have:

- Finalised all payroll records for 2025/26
- Issued a P60 to every current AND former employee who worked for you last tax year
- Ensured all HMRC submissions are accurate and complete

What happens if you miss it?

- Automatic penalties from HMRC
- Employees unable to complete their Self Assessment
- Unnecessary stress and last-minute corrections

Whether you have 1 employee or 100 – don't leave this to chance.

Don't let the deadline pass you by. Contact us immediately: https://3esaccountants.co.uk/contact-us/

Buying a pharmacy is a big investment — and small financial mistakes early on can become expensive later.

We’ve seen buyers run into issues like:

- Overestimating future profits
- Not reviewing cash flow properly
- Missing hidden costs in the deal
- Poor tax planning from the start

The right financial planning before you buy can make a huge difference to how successful the business is long-term.

Read our latest blog to understand the most common mistakes — and how to avoid them. https://3esaccountants.co.uk/common-financial-mistakes-buyers-make-when-purchasing-a-pharmacy/

If you’ve received a letter from HMRC about cryptoassets in an Inheritance Tax return, it can feel a bit confusing.

What are they actually asking for?

HMRC is checking whether any cryptoassets were correctly included in the estate valuation.

This usually means:

- Confirming if the person held crypto
- Checking how it was valued at the time
- Making sure nothing has been missed

Read the full blog to understand what HMRC is asking and how to respond confidently. https://3esaccountants.co.uk/hmrcs-cryptoassets-and-inheritance-tax-returns-letter-explained-what-you-need-to-know/

Did you know? From April 6, 2026, if you are self-employed or your property income exceeds £50k, you must file quarterly updates digitally.

Many business owners are realising this week that their old spreadsheets won't cut it. We help you set up MTD-compliant cloud software (eg, Xero/QuickBooks) and handle the quarterly submissions so you don't miss a beat.

Not sure if you're affected? Contact us now: https://3esaccountants.co.uk/contact-us/

If you provide benefits to employees, P11D filing should already be on your radar.

This includes things like:

- Company cars
- Private medical insurance
- Expense reimbursements

Where it goes wrong:

- Benefits not tracked properly
- Missing items
- Incorrect valuations

And once errors are submitted, fixing them isn’t always straightforward.

Tax rates don’t always change dramatically — but even small changes can impact what you take home.

For example:

- Dividend tax rates have increased
- Thresholds haven’t kept up with inflation
- Employer's National Insurance has risen

It’s not always obvious — but over time, it adds up.

What worked last year might not be the most tax-efficient approach now.

Allowances aren’t what they used to be.

For 2026/27:

- Personal Allowance thresholds remain the same
- Capital Gains Tax allowance is significantly reduced

This means more people are paying tax — even without earning significantly more.

We’re already seeing clients caught out by this.

The key isn’t just knowing the numbers — it’s planning around them.

Because small changes now can save a lot later.

If you're self-employed or your property income exceeds £50,000, MTD for Income Tax started for you on 6th April 2026.

Your first quarterly update is due by 5th August 2026.

That sounds far away. It's not.

What you must do now (May 2026):

- Set up MTD-compliant software (eg, Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent)
- Link your software to your HMRC account
- Start recording income and expenses digitally from April 2026

Don't leave this until July; the software setup alone can take weeks.

From 1st April 2026, online platforms like eBay, Etsy, Vinted, Airbnb, and Uber are required to share your sales data directly with HMRC.

The biggest pain point we're hearing from clients right now:

""I only sell second-hand items from around my house. Do I need to declare that?""

Answer: Generally, no – selling your own used personal items isn't taxable. But if you're buying stock to resell, making items to sell, or providing a service, that's trading.

Don't wait for HMRC's nudge letter. It's already on its way for many.

Many small businesses are still not claiming the Employment Allowance — and it’s costing them.

If you’re eligible, you can reduce your employer National Insurance bill by up to £5,000 per year.

We often see businesses miss out because:

- They assume they don’t qualify
- Their payroll isn’t set up correctly
- No one flagged it to them

It’s a simple claim — but only if you know about it.

Not sure if you’re eligible? Contact us us and we’ll check for you. https://3esaccountants.co.uk/contact-us/
