2026 is about building momentum properly, with intention, structure, and confidence in the direction we’re heading.

IN for 2026

• Sustainable business growth
• Scaling without losing quality
• Clear systems that support more clients, not more stress
• Strong client relationships at volume
• Confident decision making backed by data
• Investing in people, processes, and technology
• Long term thinking with short term ex*****on

OUT for 2026

• Chaotic growth
• Doing everything manually
• Reactive decision making
• Overcommitting without capacity
• Growth without infrastructure
• Confusing busy with profitable

What are you building intentionally this year?

I used to think being a good business owner meant doing everything myself 😴

In the early days, I was doing the bookkeeping, annual accounts, marketing, sales, admin, systems, the list was never ending.

It felt like being busy meant being productive but really, I’d built a business that couldn’t function without me.

Everything changed when I started letting go.

Delegation isn’t about losing control, it’s about creating capacity, It’s how Seacrest went from surviving to growing.

If you’re still doing it all yourself, you’re not building a business, you’re burning yourself out, reach for some support today, you wont regret it!

It’s not usually growth that kills a business.
It’s what happens behind the scenes when things take off.

Here’s what I mean 👇

🌊You’ve now got a few people working for you

🌊 Jobs are flying in, invoices stacking up

🌊 Money’s coming through the door but somehow you feel more stressed than ever

On the outside, it looks like everything’s going great but inside, you’re juggling cashflow, tax, payroll and hoping it doesn’t all fall apart!

This is normally when I hear:
“I wish I’d had someone in my corner earlier.”

Because once the numbers start running away from you, it’s a nightmare to claw back control.

The businesses that keep growing? They don’t wait for the chaos.

They get clear on their numbers early, put simple systems in place and they’ve got someone watching their back so they can focus on the work.

🚨If you’re in that “exciting but a bit overwhelming” stage don’t wait until it blows up.

Are you actually making money on your jobs or just hoping the bank balance looks okay at the end?

A lot of contractors I work with are smashing it on site but still feel a bit unsure when it comes to their numbers.

So I’ve put together a simple Construction Finance Health Checklist with no complicated language, just a quick way to spot if you’re leaking cash without realising it.

Site visits on Fridays? Yes please!

As a specialist construction accountant, I don’t just sit behind spreadsheets.

I go to site. I see the mud, the scaffolding, the material delays.
I listen to the real world challenges you deal with daily.

Because the better I understand your operations…

→ The better I forecast your numbers.
→ The better I protect your profits.
→ The better I help your business grow.

That’s the difference between a standard accountant and one who actually makes an impact.

At Seacrest we don’t just crunch the numbers, we make them work for your business.

If you’re in construction and feel like your accountant doesn’t get it, let’s fix that.

How to avoid the 2025 employer NI hike as a sole director (and still pay yourself £12,570 legally)

From April 6, 2025 employers get hit hard:

🌊 NI rate jumps from 13.8% → 15%
🌊 Secondary threshold drops from £9,100 → £5,000
🌊 That means: employer NI kicks in much sooner
🌊 But the Employment Allowance? Doubles to £10,500

Translation?

If you pay yourself £12,570 and don’t claim Employment Allowance, your company pays around £570 in employer NI.

But if you do claim EA?
You pay £0.

Here’s how to make that happen…

Use Employment Allowance
(And save £10,500 in 2025)

To qualify:
🌊 You need at least 1 employee who isn’t a director
🌊 Pay them above the Lower Earnings Limit = £123/week (2024/25 rate)

The hack:

🌊 Hire someone legit (VA, admin, cleaner, your mum)
🌊 Put them on a real contract
🌊 Pay them £123+/week
🌊 Run payroll with them on it
🌊 Claim EA through your software (tick the box, submit)

Once you do?

🌊 You can pay yourself £12,570 → £0 employer NI
🌊 And you get full CT relief on the salary too.

Timing tip:

Even if you already ran an April payroll for directors…

You can hire someone in May, run payroll again, and claim EA from that point.
It still covers the whole year.

Heads up:

🌊 Role must be genuine
🌊 Can’t be just directors on the payroll
🌊 Don’t claim EA if you’re the only employee and a director

Want to avoid a £500+ bill this year?

Tick the box.

I literally couldn’t run my accounting business without this one digital tool
(it’s not what you might think)

↳ WhatsApp.

Yep. Out of everything in my entire tech stack, WhatsApp is the king.

Without it I lose my favourite USP - being contactable, fast.
I like to be on hand 24/7.

If you’ve ever waited days - or weeks! - to hear back from your accountant, it’s time for a new accountant.

Last year I worked with a business that was always busy - busy staff, lots of customers, bustling atmosphere, but guess what?

They weren’t profitable.

The owners couldn’t put their finger on it.

In our first meeting, they told they didn’t understand why their profits were stagnant.

It wasn’t some big confusing reason (it hardly ever is) it was simple:

↳ They didn’t track which products were actually profitable
↳ They barely looked at their accounts (ever!)
↳ They didn’t look at what was spent vs what came in

The true story isn’t in the vibe - it’s in the numbers.
And the numbers are only complex until someone explains them 🫶🏻

Simple explanations.
Smart solutions.

I don’t want to come across as negative or anything, but...

Historically, most business closures happen in the first quarter of the year.

I know, we’re supposed to be all positive in Jan but facts are facts.
As someone who works so closely with a diverse range of business owners, I can’t help but bring it up.

Let’s talk about why.

Loads of factors, obviously (economic conditions, seasonal trends, competition etc)

But I think this one is pretty big: not understanding your margins.

Margin & markup aren’t the same thing.

↳ Margin: The % of profit your company makes on a product or service after deducting all costs, including the cost of goods sold.
Knowing the margin helps you understand your profitability.

↳ Markup: This is the % increase in price over the cost of goods sold. Understanding markup helps you set appropriate prices.

There are so many business owners and entrepreneurs who calculate their pricing based on markup instead of margin.

But not you - not in 2025.
Let us help.
