Another big HMRC change incoming…

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax starts this April (2026) and honestly… a lot of people aren’t ready for it yet.

This means:
✔️ Quarterly submissions instead of one tax return
✔️ Digital record keeping (no more spreadsheets/receipts in a bag 😅)
✔️ New systems + new habits

If you’re self-employed or a landlord earning over £50,000, this is for you NOW.

And this is just the start 👇
➡️ April 2027 – threshold drops to £30,000
➡️ April 2028 – expected to drop to £20,000

So even if it’s not affecting you yet… it will.

I’m already helping clients get set up now so there’s no panic 🙌

We are recruiting a Bookkeeping Assistant to join our growing team and would love to hear from you! Check out the Job Description below:

Job Title: Bookkeeping Assistant
Salary: £25,396.80 - equivalent to £12.21 per hour (to be increased upon successful completion of your probation period). We may offer a higher salary for candidates with more experience, which would be commensurate with experience.
Hours per week: 40 hours per week (i.e. 7 hours each day including x1 hour lunch break each day)
Days per week: Mon-Fri
Daily start time: Flexible start time between 8am and 10am

We are looking for candidates who can assist the business with a variety of bookkeeping tasks and who can eventually become a point of contact for clients, providing high quality client support via email and telephone. We are looking for someone who can be trained up to suit the business’s needs, who is keen and quick to learn and who wants to become part of the company on a long-term basis. We have a fantastic team and are hoping to find someone with a great worth ethic to join us!

This is a remote-working opportunity and so the successful candidate must have a suitable remote-working setup at home.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• All standard bookkeeping tasks
• General admin support
• Bank reconciliations
• Credit control
• Invoicing
• Purchase ledgers
• Additional ad hoc duties (as and when required)

Eligibility:
• Recent relevant experience using Xero software is desirable. This practice specialises in the use of Xero software.
• Experience with other accounting software is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to manage key deadlines.
• Highly computer literate including strong Excel skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload independently.
