Some trading advice, especially if you are struggling to make money

Don’t trade your strategy.
Trade your identity.

If you unconsciously believe you’re inconsistent, impatient, or emotional — guess what?

Your behaviour will always match that belief.

Life is a mirror of what you say to yourself and others

Trading changed for me when I stopped asking:

“How do I win more?”

…and started asking:

“Who do I need to be for consistency to become automatic?”

Has trading ever forced you to start questioning everything?

And getting answers you didn’t expect? :)

Only 11 days until Christmas :)

Just musing.....Most traders don’t lose money because they have a bad strategy.

They lose money because they can’t manage themselves when risk is involved.

One trade is sized properly…
the next is “just a bit bigger”…
then emotions take over.

Knowing how to manage risk fixed my trading results more than any indicator ever could

Curious to know — what do you find hardest to stay disciplined with?

Risk?
Stops?
Cutting winning trades too early?
Position size?
Win rate too low?
Not knowing your rolling average R:R day to day

Or something else?

Thought for the day!

Most traders don’t lose money because they’re stupid.

They lose money because they keep changing things.

Strategy this week.
Psychology next week.
Risk rules when things are calm… ignored when emotions kick in.

Consistency isn’t about willpower.
It’s about having a structure that holds you steady when you don’t feel disciplined.

Took me years (and far too much money) to realise that trading isn’t about being clever —
it’s about being repeatable.

Curious — what do you find hardest to stay consistent with?
Risk? Discipline? Overtrading? Holding winners?

Anyone else tired of failing FTMO challenges? I built something that shows you exactly what win rate you need on the number of trades you make.

As an example, for the 10% target you need to pass, it will do infinite simulations.

You can change any of the parameters to suit your style of trading. So it will calculate the risk/reward ratio, the % you risk on each trade and the win rate you need.

As an example, on a $100,000 account, say you did 2 trades a day, for 20 days (40 trades) and risked 1% per trade, with an average return on risk of 1.9/1

How many winning trades would be needed from those 40 trades to hit the magic 10% you need to pass?

Answer - Just 18 trades out of 40 ! So you could have a win rate less than 50%, 22 losing trades and still pass.

Improve your average risk/reward win ratio to 2.2/1 and your win rate only needs to be 39.1% so just 16.12 winning trades out of 40 !

You can literally adjust any of the parameters, and you have your perfect trading plan with A1 risk management to protect against those horrible drawdowns and failing the challenge again.

It just makes trading a breeze once you have the numbers dialled in with a great strategy :)

🏆The new premiership season will be here before you know it !

Maybe you didn't know this about me, but I love creating and building things online that I think people will love and need.
I have created and built some awesome tools to help traders and investors make more money and, importantly, avoid losing money, financial tools such as mortgage calculators, final salary calculators, pension calculators, Excel to CSV converters, and lots more!

In my spare time, just for kicks and thrills, I am building a premiership football statistics site. If people like it, who knows, I might even make a shilling or two! The lofty objective is to make this the best football statistics/tracking site out there, bar none.

I am still building the prototype and the API. The API simply means creating my own unique live data feed to record all the stats after each match. A bit like bloomberg for financial data. There's a lot of work to do, but I should have this bad boy finished by August.

It will spit out stats, but if you love fantasy football or like to have the odd football bet, this will help enhance your chances of winning. I am also going to see if I can build into the platform a predictor/forecaster using all the data to give the highest win probability! This will be an absolute beast if I can get it to look and do what I have visualised.

As well as the usual team and player stats, such as goal scorers, shots on target, shots, corners etc, I'm going to add some more features

Just analysed my last 50 trades and discovered something shocking about position sizing...

Most traders focus on win rate and R:R ratios, but completely ignore the mathematics of position sizing.

Turns out, you can have a 70% win rate and still lose money if your position sizing is wrong.

I've put together a Risk Management Calculator that shows exactly how to calculate optimal position sizes for any trade.

Try it out if you like, it's really helped me become a better trader.
