Time to grab a coffee ☕ and finally make a plan for your accounts…

You’ve probably been putting it off telling yourself “I’ll sort it later” or “I can do this myself.”

And yes, you can… but that doesn’t always mean you should.

Because here’s what I see time and time again:

Without accounting support, it’s easy to:
• Miss out on tax savings
• Feel unsure about your numbers
• Leave things until the last minute
• Make decisions based on guesswork

Working with me isn’t just about getting your accounts done, it’s about:

✔ Having clarity on your finances
✔ Knowing exactly what you owe and when
✔ Making smarter decisions with your money
✔ Feeling calm, organised and in control

Small changes, done properly, can make a huge difference.

So instead of putting it off again… let’s make a plan.

If you still need to complete your 2025–2026 Self Assessment tax return, you can submit it now - no need to wait until the January deadline.

Getting it sorted early can make life much easier 👇

✏️ Get any tax refund sooner
If HMRC owes you money, submitting early means you could receive your refund much quicker.

✏️ Know exactly what you owe
Planning ahead helps avoid surprises before the 31 January 2027 payment deadline. You can even spread the cost with HMRC’s Budget Payment Plan.

✏️ Avoid the January panic
No last-minute stress, missing paperwork, or scrambling to meet deadlines after Christmas.

✏️ Useful proof of income
A completed tax return can help support mortgage, loan, rental or benefit applications.

Remember - submitting early does not mean paying early.
You’ll still have until 31 January 2027 to pay your 2025–2026 tax bill.

If you’re a freelancer, sole trader or self-employed and want help getting your tax return sorted early, I'm here to help 👍

Be honest… do you actually know your monthly profit? 👀

Not your income.
Not what’s in your bank.
Your actual profit.

Because this is where so many business owners get caught out…

Money coming in doesn’t mean money being kept.

If you don’t know your numbers, it’s easy to:
• Overspend without realising
• Underpay yourself
• Get hit with unexpected tax bills
• Feel like you’re working hard but not getting ahead

Knowing your profit = having control.

It doesn’t need to be complicated - just consistent.

So… do you know yours? 💬

A little friendly reminder to think ahead to your tax bill 💭

If you’re a client of mine, you’ll know we regularly talk about tax planning and making sure there are no surprises but it’s always worth a quick check-in.

Here are the key deadlines to keep on your radar:

📌 Self Assessment
• 31st July 2026 (payment on account)
• 31st January 2027 (balancing payment)

📌 Corporation Tax
• Due 9 months and 1 day after your company year end

Planning ahead means no last-minute stress, no scrambling for funds, and more control over your cash flow.

If you’re unsure what you’ve got coming up or want to sense-check your numbers, just drop me a message, always happy to help.

Freelancers… a quick heads up on tax changes you need on your radar...

📊 Income Tax
The personal allowance is still frozen at ÂŁ12,570
The basic rate band stays at ÂŁ37,700
Higher rate kicks in at ÂŁ50,270

➡️ Which means as your income grows… more of it gets pulled into higher tax bands.

📈 Dividends (from April 2026)
Dividend tax is increasing by 2%:
• Basic rate: 8.75% → 10.75%
• Higher rate: 33.75% → 35.75%
• Dividend allowance stays at just £500

➡️ So if you’re paying yourself in dividends, this will impact you.

💡 What this means for you:
More tax… unless you plan ahead.

Now is the time to start thinking about:
• How you’re paying yourself
• Profit extraction strategies
• Making the most of allowances while you can

If you’re freelancing and not sure how these changes affect you, it’s worth getting clear before they hit.

Because small tweaks now can make a big difference later

Making Tax Digital is on the way for many businesses in 2026… and it will change how you manage and report your finances.

In simple terms:
You’ll need to keep digital records and send updates to HMRC more regularly using compatible software.

It’s likely to affect:
• Self-employed individuals
• Landlords
• Anyone earning over the threshold (set to start from £50,000, then £30,000)

If you’re not quite sure what it is, where to begin, or how it will affect you - you’re definitely not alone.

A lot of business owners will need extra support getting set up and staying compliant.

If you’d like to understand what this means for you and what you should be doing now, feel free to send me a DM. I’m here to help make it all feel a lot more manageable

You’ve got mail 📩

My new quarterly newsletter should have landed in your inbox at the end of last month.

It’s filled with simple, helpful updates to keep you on top of accounting news, without the overwhelm. I’ve filtered through the noise so you don’t have to, sharing what actually matters for you and your business.

As always, if anything sparks a question or you’d like to talk something through, I’m here to help.

Let’s be honest… how often are you actually reviewing your business performance?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day and before you know it, months have passed without really looking at the bigger picture.

Regular check-ins help you:

Spot when expenses are creeping up
See if your pricing is actually working
Understand what you can afford to pay yourself
Catch issues early (before they turn into tax stress)
Make decisions based on facts, not guesses

It doesn’t need to be complicated either, I recommend sitting down once per month to look at:

Your total income for the month
Your main expenses (what’s actually going out)
Your profit (what’s left after everything)
How much you’ve set aside for tax
What you’ve paid yourself

Limited Company Directors… let’s clear up the confusion around deadlines!

There are three key deadlines you need to know:

1️⃣ Companies House Accounts
Your accounts must be filed 9 months after your year end.

2️⃣ Corporation Tax Payment
Your corporation tax must be paid 9 months + 1 day after your year end.

3️⃣ Corporation Tax Return (CT600)
Your tax return must be filed within 12 months of your year end.

Filing your accounts doesn’t automatically mean your tax is paid!
Keeping on top of all three deadlines helps you stay compliant and avoid penalties.

If you’re unsure or need support managing your company deadlines, I can help you stay organised and stress-free.
