Although I speak to my clients regularly there is often gaps between our visits face to face

It can be quite striking to notice the difference from one year to the next. ⏳

Nobody likes getting older or losing the ability to do things, but I’ve seen how quickly someone’s mobility, health, or mental capacity can change from one visit to a next 😩

‼️ I always believe planning ahead is so important.

✔️It is far better to make decisions while things are calm, considered, and not driven by crisis or urgency. 📝

A gentle reminder:

✅ Get your Powers of Attorney sorted
✅ Get your Will written
✅ Start thinking about inheritance tax before it becomes too late
✅Be realistic
✅ Protect your loved ones financially

Planning ahead is not just about money. It’s about protecting yourself, your family, and the people you care about. ❤️

💜 CONNECTED IN CARE 💜

✨Something exciting is coming… ✨

📅 Save the Date — Thursday 9th July (Evening Event)

Yesterday, a group of local professionals came together at Parklands Care Home to plan an informative and relaxed evening to help families better understand later life planning, care, and estate preparation 🏡📖💙

The evening will include guidance and practical information from experienced professionals covering:

⚖️ Leah Hanson , Solicitor — why having the right Will in place matters, ensuring assets go where intended, and the importance of Lasting Powers of Attorney.

🧠 Sue and Hannah — Mental Capacity Assessments, when they may be needed, and how they help protect both the donor and attorney when preparing legal documents.

🏡 Beverley and Angus from Parklands Care Home — talking about the home, the care and support available, and the costs involved.

💷 Myself — discussing ways to pay for care to help ensure funds do not run out, also exploring whether it may be possible to leave some money behind for loved ones if that is important to you.

🍷🧀 🫖 And most importantly… cheese, wine & refreshments! ☕️

A really informative evening in a relaxed setting with the opportunity to ask questions and meet local professionals 🤝

👀 More details coming soon… watch this space!

Yesterday I met with Lucy Harris Lacey & Swain and an Alice SJP Law for one of our mutual clients — a great reminder of why collaboration between professionals is so important. ⚖️

Around the table, we discussed the client’s estate planning from different perspectives, bringing up considerations that may not otherwise have been identified.
Together, we ensured the right structures and paperwork were in place so the family is protected financially and legally, both now and in the future. 🏡📑

I’ve always used the analogy that many clients — especially business owners — should have a “three-legged stool” supporting them:

• Financial Adviser
• Solicitor
• Accountant

Each professional plays a vital role, and when all three work together, everything stays balanced and aligned.

No one professional has every answer, which is why working collaboratively delivers the best outcomes for clients.

Every day is a learning day, and I’m always grateful to work alongside other trusted professionals who share the same goal — helping clients achieve peace of mind.

Over 12 years ago, the three of us joined St. James’s Place as financial advisers 💼✨

At the time, there were very few women in the company, so we naturally gravitated towards each other — and I’m so glad we did 🤍

What started as a support network through the early days helping with exams and training / learning and this has now turned into a bond that’s lasted more than a decade 🫶 We’ve shared the highs, the challenges, the hard work, and laughs along the way ☕🥂😂

Financial services can still feel like a male-dominated industry at times, but we’re proof that women absolutely belong here and can thrive just as much as anyone else 💪✨

After all these years, it’s always so special when we get together for a proper catch-up 🥰 Friendships like this are rare — built on loyalty, encouragement, and sticking things out together through every stage of life and career ❤️👭✨

Only one photo on the way back to the train 🚂 🤣 not glamorous

📺 Watching a programme tonight on ITV tonight about people “cashing in on the elderly” is a stark reminder of just how important estate planning really is but more importantly choosing a trusted person.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is not just paperwork — it’s about protecting yourself, your finances, your wishes, and your future ❤️

You need to make sure the people you choose are trustworthy, responsible, and capable of acting in your best interests.

There are two key types of LPA:
💷 Property & Financial Affairs – allowing someone you trust to manage your finances and property if you are unable to.

🏡 Health & Welfare – helping ensure decisions about your care, where you live, and the type of care you receive are made by someone who understands your wishes.

With an ageing population 👵👴 this issue is only going to grow. Planning ahead now can help protect you and your loved ones later.

If you are unsure whether someone has the mental capacity to sign a Power of Attorney, it is essential to seek professional advice and arrange a proper mental capacity assessment 🧠✅ Companies such as Altass Cheshire can help complete a mental capacity assessment to protect all those involved

Please don’t leave these decisions until it’s too late ⏳ Get proper advice, ask questions, and make sure everything is done correctly.

✨ A really inspiring visit today! ✨

I had the pleasure of meeting with Beverely at a lovely local care home that’s truly raising the bar 🙌

Not only is the home beautiful — clean, modern, and welcoming 🏡 — but what really stood out is their commitment to supporting both residents and their families every step of the way ❤️

What I especially loved is their focus on helping families get their finances in order and plan properly for care 💭💷
This is something very close to my heart — making sure people get the right advice at the right time so they can make informed decisions and feel more in control of their future.

It’s refreshing to see a care home taking such a proactive, education-led approach 👏

(And yes… the coffee and pastry was great too ☕😉)

I’m really looking forward to working together — from drop-in sessions and talks to supporting their upcoming open day and connecting families with trusted advice and support.

Exciting times ahead! 🚀

Face-to-face advice will always be at the heart of what I do. 🤝

There’s real value in sitting down together, having proper conversations, and understanding what truly matters to my clients—not just numbers on a page, but their goals, concerns, and future plans.

This week took me a bit further afield than usual… all the way past Inverness 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to visit two of my more mature clients.

The views along the way were absolutely worth it, but even more so was the time spent ensuring they feel confident, supported, and looked after.

No matter the distance, being there in person makes all the difference.

😅As we approach the end of the tax year, the last couple of weeks always become a rush… ⏳💼

Conversations tend to focus on:
• How much to contribute to pensions to maximise tax efficiency 💰
• Whether to use remaining ISA allowances before they’re lost 📊

But here’s the real question: when is the best time to plan for this? 🤔

👉 The answer: at the start of the tax year, not the end.

Yes, it can feel uncomfortable making contributions so soon after the new tax year begins—but getting organised early means:
✔️ No last-minute stress 😅
✔️ No risk of missing deadlines 🚫
✔️ More time to plan contributions comfortably 🧘‍♂️

This year is a perfect example—bank holidays falling at the end of the tax year have reduced the number of working days 📉, and payment timings are out of our control ⛔

So instead of scrambling next March…

📅 Start planning from 6th April.
Give yourself the full year to make decisions calmly and strategically 🧠✨

A little organisation now can save a lot of pressure later 🙌
