🌐 Yesterday, we shared the latest OECD update on the Global Minimum Tax. Today, we explain the key changes and what multinational groups should know.

Here are three important takeaways:
🔹 The OECD updated the GloBE Information Return (GIR) XML Schema and its technical guidance.
🔹 Version 2.0 will apply to information exchanges from 25 June 2028.
🔹 Multinational groups should review their reporting data, processes and systems ahead of the transition.

🌐 The Global Minimum Tax reporting framework is evolving.

The OECD has updated the technical standards used to exchange information under the Global Minimum Tax rules. The changes reflect the 2026 revisions to the framework and include a new version of the GloBE Information Return (GIR) XML Schema.

What should professionals know?
🔹 The new XML Schema version 2.0 will apply to information exchanges from 25 June 2028.
🔹 The previous version will remain applicable until 15 June 2028.
🔹 Multinational groups and tax administrations should review how these changes may affect their reporting data, processes and systems.

The key message: keeping up with international tax developments also means preparing for changes in the technical requirements behind compliance.
