Most freelancers and small business owners price based on one thing: what feels reasonable.
The problem: "feels reasonable" usually means you're undercharging.
Your price needs to cover:
π° Your direct costs (materials, tools, time at a living wage)
π° Your overhead (software, internet, phone, insurance, your share per project)
π° Taxes (roughly 20β30% of profit depending on your setup)
π° A profit buffer (so the business can grow, not just survive)
Add all of that up and THAT is your floor. Not your target. Your minimum.
Most freelancers and small service businesses I work with discover they've been pricing 20β40% below where they should be, not because they're not good at what they do, but because they never ran the actual numbers.
Clean books make correct pricing possible. That's one reason why bookkeeping pays for itself.
Have you ever done the math on your real minimum price? π
