Two ten-second habits that save you hours in March.
1. Snap the receipt the moment it hits your hand. Before the coffee, before the meeting, before it goes in your pocket to be forgotten. Ten seconds now saves ten minutes of "what was this $47?" three months later. Same rule for email invoices forward them straight to your bookkeeping software's capture address. Inbox zero, books full.
2. Never send a transfer without a description. An unlabelled transfer turns future-you into a detective with no clues: Who was this? Why? Business or personal? Two seconds of typing a reference note turns every transaction into a record that explains itself.
Neither of these is impressive. Neither takes effort. And together they eliminate most of the guesswork that makes tax season painful because the context is captured while you still remember it.
The best bookkeeping habits are boring by design. That's why they work.
π‘ Save this. Then actually do both tomorrow.
