The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) is located in the south-east of Bangladesh. It comprises three (Rangamati, Bandarban& Khagrachari) administrative district and covers a total area of 5093 square Km. The topography of CHT is featured by hills, rivers and cliffs covered with thick forest, lush and creeper jungle. The main characteristic of vegetation is tropical moist semi evergreen forest dominated by tall trees. All the hill ranges of the CHT rise steeply and extend in long narrow ridges. The highest peak is Tagingdong (1231 m.)
Main attractions of the regions are the ethnic people, lake and hills. Fourteen of the ethnic groups are living here with their vibrant culture. Almost all the groups have their unique culture, language, festivals, customs & lifestyleHere, dominant ethnic people are Chakmas but one can come into contact with Marma, Tripura, Thanchyanga and other communities as well. So if you are a tourist or traveller, must come here once and discover why and how it is a different experience in Bangladesh for you. Rangamati is 77 km away from Chittagong city by road. It is one of the district headquarter of CHT and most favorite tourist destination in Bangladesh. It is called Lake District as it is situated on Kaptai lake the largest man-made lake of Asia. This hill district is also different than other two hill districts for its lake and landscapes. Bandarban hill district lies in the southern part of Chittagong Hill Tracts and 80 km away from Chittagong city linked by good road. Just 8/10 years before it was inaccessible for tourist and traveller. Now it has considerable facilities for tourists. The attraction of soft slopping hills and the anthropological appeal of the hill people have been the dream of all tourist and traveller. Still now this place is completely untouched and very refreshing nature.
