Superannuation Update:

From 1 July 2022, employers will need to pay super to their employees who earn less than $450 per month, provided they meet other eligibility requirements.

From 1 July 2022, the super guarantee rate is rising from 9.5% to 10%.

Important information that all employees have the right to know and understand .

Sometimes workplaces fail to abide by the rules, make sure your small to medium business is doing everything it can to ensure it’s compliant 👌🏻

Knowing your rights means you’ll be able to spot something dodgy. Check our info for what to watch out for: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/find-help-for/young-workers-and-students

Here are 5 warning signs:
⚠️1. No pay slips. It’s a legal requirement for your boss to give you a pay slip within 1 working day of pay day. Make sure you keep your own record of when you work, so you can check you’re being paid right.

⚠️2. Getting paid cash-in-hand. Being paid in cash is ok but being paid ‘off the books’ isn’t. Getting paid ‘under the table’ can put you at risk of being underpaid wages and super. Paying cash-in-hand without deducting required tax is illegal. Make sure you’re on the books.

⚠️3. No breaks. You are entitled to breaks according to the rules in your award or registered agreement.

⚠️4. Not getting paid for all the time you’re required to be at work. You must get paid for all the hours you’re required to work, including time spent in compulsory meetings, training and opening/closing the business.

⚠️5. Being asked to complete lengthy unpaid work trials. Fact: Unpaid work trials are only OK for as long as needed to demonstrate the skills required for the job. Depending on the nature and complexity of the work, this could generally range from an hour to a shift.
