Under Irish legislation, solicitors cannot release sale proceeds unless all Irish tax affairs are fully up to date and paid in full.

The Double Tax Trap (Awareness)
🇮🇪 Irish Expats in Australia — this catches people out every year 🇦🇺

We’re seeing Irish expats unintentionally paying double tax on Irish rental properties — simply because returns aren’t lodged correctly.
Here’s the rule 👇
🏠 Irish rental income must be declared in Ireland first
Then declared in Australia, with a foreign tax credit claimed for Irish tax already paid.
❌ Declaring the income only in Australia does not protect you from Irish Revenue.
Many people don’t realise this until years later — when the cost is far higher.
