Tools, workwear, the ute. What can you actually claim as a tradie? 🔧

The short version: if you use it to earn your income, there's a good chance some or all of it is claimable. Think tools and equipment, protective gear, licences and training, the work portion of your phone, and your vehicle.

But here's the part a lot of people miss. A claim is only as good as the record behind it.

Keep your receipts. Keep a logbook if you're claiming your vehicle. And hold on to everything for five years after you lodge.

Missing a few receipts or not sure where to start? That's okay. Bring what you've got and we'll sort it out together, no judgement.

If you do your own tax return, the deadline normally lands on 31st October. This year that's a Saturday, so the ATO gives you until Monday 2nd November.

But here's the bit most people miss. If you'd like a registered tax agent to look after your return, you need to be on their client list by 31st October.

Get on the list in time and you'll usually have a lot longer to lodge.

So if you've been putting it off, you haven't missed the boat. You just need to reach out before the end of the month.

One small note: if this is your first ever return, or you've got older returns still outstanding, the rules work a little differently. Worth a quick chat so we can check where you stand.
